I was a TOS founder. I played day 1. The lag is worse now, not better

Independent of certain specific issues that plagued the first week or two, such as instance dungeon capacity being so limited you might try to enter for a solid hour, or being unable to log in at all, let me tell you something:

The condition of the servers is much worse now. How does this happen, two years down the road? A couple weeks after launch was a much better experience. What the hell?

It should be obvious: they’re cutting costs. Hard. They’re eager to push new dresses in loot boxes at us every few months, but there’s nothing in the budget for servers that don’t poison the game?!

You’re going to lose the whales, IMC. And when that happens, it’s done. Are you planning to cut and run? Are you planning around shutting down the international servers in a year? Because you’re acting like it. Are we going to get a speeches about how with-a-heavy-heart and regional-and-cultural-differences and it-couldn’t-be-helped? It could be helped. You did this, IMC. The bots, the terrible server architecture, the lack of meaningful investment in basic MMO necessities.

Whatever happens, you deserve. And to all of you paying into this racket, why are you doing it? Where is your money going? Not into better servers, that’s for sure.

No idea what happened, before that was all good. SA bore the brunt of the lags for a good few months. RIP SA

You literally could not turn in quests in the first 2 weeks of the game’s launch. This is in no way even close.

Klaipeda is bad right now for 4-5 minute intervals and then it goes away for hours. This is nothing like launch. That doesn’t make it okay, but the hyperbole does not help them troubleshoot the issue.

It seems to be the worst right now across all maps, especially the first channel of those maps and in towns, and especially during gem feud and when GVG is going on. Also in general, switching characters and bouncing to lodge is slower since maintenance, but I don’t think it’s related to the hard hits that main towns and other things take when it gets bad.

@Staff needs to address this, but at least give them the opportunity to do so.

You can’t be serious. There isn’t enough material in my OP to play the selective quotes game. What are you doing? I don’t understand you.

Edit: Just because I can’t bear the thought of having to read any of your other works, I’m going to do us both a favor and take care of this one in advance, before your fingers have the opportunity to irritate me with what I’m about to preempt: It’s common enough to forgive the first week or two of a rough launch as long as things are smooth not long after. This is why I can comfortably say things were better back then.

That’s true. All I saw was “it lags” and a rant I’ve seen many times before. But I’ll humor this selected quote:

Specifically, server based lag that affects either entire channels or the entire server, simultaneously. Not FPS loss, not some shoddy third world connection.

what I hate of the lag is how inconsistent it seems to be…

1 min you are 100% fine then BANG hit by super lag and the opposite is true too (have epic lag… BOOM gone)…

1000000 enemies and skills on screen “Am cool keep going”~ GAME
Nothing on screen “I don’t feel so good, I think am gonna crash”~ GAME

It is really laggy in Telsiai too over the past week. Am experiencing spikes of 300-500ms (it was normally 10-3ms for me) , perhaps the server is hinting me to concentrate more on BBtag now.

Yeah, this is actually the worst part. It’s similarly bad to the first couple days of their GVG test, only it’s literally every map all at once, which is awful. But then it goes away and you’re fine for several hours. And naturally, it feels like it always happens at the least convenient time in the world. :stuck_out_tongue:

But that’s wrong. In both ways. Though you made me think, perhaps the increase in playerbase is actually what’s driving the lag? The launch lag was caused by IMC grossly underestimating the interest in the game and being unable to accommodate. Perhaps now, especially with the weekend buffs to looting chance, enough people log in that the server just can’t handle the load. Maybe that’s what’s been happening on Silute. But I still think that whatever change they made back when they merged servers was really the driver behind all of this.

Game is unplayable right now and it does not go away…its a consant lag all throughout the day.

I’m pretty sure close to 1st anniversary we had the same topic.

Game launch and 1st anniversary were both way worse than this. It’s bad now,but it still doesn’t compare.

imo all servers just sux or there are all located in some NOWHERE >.> sausys is unplayable when there are 20+ppl at channel ;/

Server is LESS laggy compared to launch

Launch was a mess.

Edit: Seems like the lag is caused by the number of players. Most likely certain instances are getting overwhelmed and messing up the processing queue (See what happens when your PC hits 100% load).

I’m going to go ahead and bold, italicize and underline the crucial parts of my post that you jokers aren’t reading. It’s been a revolving door of people seeing the title and skipping the post since this thread went up.

Game is unplayable as it is, random DC’s every now and then and lots of lag and freeze, what really scares me it’s the fact that they don’t say anything about it…

My personal experience on the Klaipeda server is as follows:

  • Prior to May 23 maint/patch, it was pretty lag free, maybe it was due to me playing on the level 1-230 maps at the time.
  • After the May 23 maint/patch, there was some apparent lag, usually around 300-400 ms or so, not super terrible. However, what makes it worse is the inconsistency of the play experience. I guess you could call it massive amounts of “jitter” for a more technical term.
  • The lag continues to get progressively worse as time goes on, but it does clear up somewhat at late night/early morning hours.
  • June 11, I experience constant amount of 1+ second lag response times, not to mention the ping is constantly jumping up and down so things are extremely inconsistent. I don’t know if its due the event(s) being run in the background or if there’s some routing issues at the DC or what.
