I think IMC Games should rent/sell distribution rights of ToS to a western publisher

If IMC would do that I think we could have more freedom in our version of the game while IMC would still get a fair income from the revenue and not deal with outcry of the western community. Let the a 3rd party publisher deal with the consequences of for example: allowing ingame trade, buy-back and all the other things that were removed from the game in the KR version.

I think this would allow a game more to the liking of our standards for a GREAT MMORPG. I know that doing this would directly effect the KR community as in they would wanna migrate to our version but then at least IMC might actually listen to what players want and not what they think the players should have.

I will wait for tomorrow before having my opinion on imc.

I don’t have good faith in them though.

Problem is that 3rd party publisher would want (alot of) money too, which might lead to even more restrictions and p2w shop.

Also the most noticeable plus of IMC handling game themselves is an ability to fix things on-fly while with 3rd party publisher you would have to wait for weeks if not months. Servers being unstable due to high load is not something that can be easily fixed by either entity, yet IMC have direct access to code to try to optimize it.

Hiring a western dev and production team would be a smarter choice if IMC didn’t have only money on the mind. I get the feeling this is just a quick half assed cash grab game that’s not going to last very long.

EDIT: Okay so let me explain, IMC Games is the developer.

If they hire a 3rd party publisher, it would mean more costs.
Simply put, Profit for Publisher must be achieved as well as profit for IMC Games.

Regarding communication, it would mean more channels are needed. I believe we’re going on a right track right now since a direct company is managing the game.

SO JUST WAIT FOR EVERYTHING TO GET FIXED STOP BEING BUTTHURT

Everyone is currently butthurt.

Because that’s where the wallet is.

What is it with people and wearing their wallet in their back pocket? I wear mine on my side. I can keep a hand on the bulge more comfortably (and so it doesn’t get stolen) and not have to worry about it when I sit down…

This is a good point

I think the original design of pants’ back pockets was for wallets.
Front for keys and hankies.
The smaller ones within the front, for pocket watches.

But yeah, you can put your wallet wherever you like.

I don’t have any issues with the core game itself but I just think it’s a bummer that we have to suffer the consequences of illicit parties like goldsellers, botters, etc so severely… I mean I play this game with a couple of my good friends and we hate the fact that we can’t trade items we get during our grind… we have so many things that could benefit each other but simply couldn’t because of the restrictions. This is one of the reasons why I thought of this topic.

And I don’t mind the current glitches and bugs at all. I’m accustomed to stuff like these from, literally every online game launch ever. My concern is directly with the functions that were removed in order to punish the illicit parties but obviously hurt the playing community even more.

Having direct interaction with the developer is a good thing. Besides isn’t this their first time trying to handle something like publish their own game all on their own? You have to cut them a bit of slack for that, plus they were really polite and apologetic. It’s aggravating yeah I get that but they’re doing okay despite some pretty terrible mistakes.

Pretty much 99% of problems in this game will be solved by having less traffic in the first two servers. They really need to hurry up with transfers and move people out of Klai and Orsha asap rather than a month from now.

Hi, I’ve been playing Blade and Soul before this game got released.

I should tell you, they have open trades, open chat channels(which for us need to use a microphone but still meh), and PVP/PVE BOTS. It’s messy in there.

In every MMO I’ve been there are gold sellers and botters. It’s worse out there. We still have it easy here in regards to bots imo

Well, again, I don’t mind the glitches and bugs, queue times, lag, server instability, etc. These have become pretty much a default for an online game launch. It does not bug me in any way. My concern is directly with the mechanics that were removed due to actions of illicit parties which directly hurt the community itself rather that those people who were the cause of the restrictions.

well said. very true sir. knowing that IMC themselves would handle the iTOS i was relieved… having a publisher to handle the game on internation release would probably cost more money and time

Yeah but the servers and lag is the major thing at the moment. There are other problems yes but the majority of bugs and such should go away with just fixing that.

I agree though that there are problems with various restrictions. I’m not so troubled with trading if there was better designation on who gets what items when they drop in parties. The marktet in general however is an utter disaster imo. But this is the same in ktos and I doubt there’d be changes with this if there was a different publisher

I think IMC also needs to understand that they can’t just copy-paste Korean Nexon prices and items and think it will do well in the west. They definitely need to fix their cash shop if they know what’s good for them. But I suppose they will learn eventually.

Please no! Never this option. I have no idea how anyone would think this would be somehow better. It would make updates lag more behind the Korean version, would increase the costs on TP shop (because extra hand in-between needing their share), cause ip restrictions everywhere, add another link that could cause bad service (I think IMC is faring okay considering only one week has passed from the release and lots of unexpected and hard to solve things have happened). Bad service would include longer time for fixing any kind of bug that is caused the software itself and not network or server caused.

Publishers like Nexon Europe are just horrible, with games being published here usually one or two years late (at least that’s how it used to be, I haven’t played their games lately). Basically western publishers usually won’t publish games until they are polished enough and they don’t have to handle many bugs, because they literally can’t handle them.

If you find bugs or other temporary problems really that game breaking, you could emulate having western publisher in between by coming back after a year or two when most bugs have been fixed and game balance problems have been polished out
