I think I messed up my monk, some help please

Hi there. I was going for monk, but it seems I messed up big by going paladin 1 as rank 4 (didn’t want to go Diev because I didn’t want to be making statues and only auto-attack until whatever level it was for rank 5. This is the current build:

This was was I wanted to go for, but it seems people said paladin is a waste in a monk.

People have said here in the forums that going pala was a waste and I went. :confused:
Now I’m thinking going full Paladin, but I have no idea what rank 7 should be. Can I be an effective monk with this current build I made, or should I go Full Paladin?

Can the monk still be effective even with Paladin 1?

You’re better of with a new build tbh.

You can only turn that into a priest3/paladin3 and i’ve aired my dislike for such a ineffective combo before.

Why would it be better to restart? Kinda harsh.

Would like to know more about the bad pala3/priest 3.

Because this class combo system can be very unforgiving, 1 wrong turn can screw up a entire build. And yeah i know it’s harsh, can’t do much about that…

As for pala3/priest3 it’s mostly due to this wash list of concerns:

  • You miss out on a r7 option like kabbalist, pd or even oracle. It’s a bit to strong to miss out on even.
  • Sacrament/Blessing are not important dmg wise for skill based dmg builds at end game. And even then maxed sacrament can be bought of pardoners that lasts 2 hours.
  • Mass heal 10 + heal 5 is not as good and reliable as heal 10, esp if they also get healing factor. (aka, you’ll need to use that res)
  • Paladin is allegedly crap for pvp, so it would be a pve only build. (smite has a charge time so is hard to hit with in pvp, barrier didn’t work last i heard there either.)
  • Barrier tends to outperform stone skin in pve, with some bosses as a exception. It is a very minor benefit to have both.
  • Heal gets a bonus amount of healing when used with restoration, making it considerably more effective on a paladin build. (may also have a bonus for mass heal, but that’s not confirmed yet.)

Considering the idea that I’m not going for Priest 3, what would be a good option for Rank 7 to a Paladin? Str/Dex paladin?

For your build, cleric2, priest3 or plague doctor to try and get decent healing imo.

For paladins in general:

  • Kabbalist, dmg prevention and a health buff. (higher max health also increases healing.)
  • Plague Doctor, healing factor is a very strong single target heal and bloodletting to prevent pretty much all status conditions that can be prevented.
  • Oracle, prevents some status conditions via prophecy and has a good chunk of pve support on the side.
  • Pardoner, to create and sell barrier scrolls for profit. (keep in mind you can’t trade silver to your alts though.)
