You press F2 and there’s an icon to lock your equipments dude. Just do it. Good Luck.

it’s a really bad idea to sell your important things, because there is no buyback function, and the GM’s will not help you.

The list of sold items apparently is there to remind us that we’re just humans and we make mistakes sometimes. Terrible, terrible unfortunate mistakes.
Seriously though as @PrinceMark linked, make sure to diligently use the item lock feature of the inventory. Saved my reckless ass a lot of times.
