I need opinions on R7

Heya! I’m currently in the process of making my build, but I’ve run into a little snag on what my R7 class will be. I’m currently running Pelt2>Barb3 and will be nearing my R7 class sometime soon. Should note that my R8 class will be Murmillo. My stat ratio so far is Str:Con 1:1. Mainly a PvE character but PvP would be nice.

So here are my options and my though process on them, in no particular order.

  1. Peltasta - I could add another circle of Peltasta to improve Highguard as well as Guardian. In the process of getting multiple skills to further help with PvE being Butterfly, which is further boosted by Murmillo, and Umbo Thrust which gives me a new debuff to use for PvE.

  2. Hoplite - Alternatively I could just go Hoplite out of the blue just to grab Finestra for the increased crit on top of my Barbarian cleave for 150 critical, increased block chance, and finally what I’m more particularly looking at, the attribute which boosts AoE Ratio by 3. The class attribute is just a nice dps increase as well as getting access to spear usage.

  3. Doppelsoeldner - Doppelsoeldner was originally my go-to R7 but after some consideration I decided to look into other options before I reached it. Doppelsoeldner really only gives me two things, Deeds of Valor and Cyclone. Deeds of Valor, on top of my decent chance to block where I wouldn’t need to worry to much about losing defense, would increase the speed at which I get my Frenzy stacks. And cyclone would just be another mob clearing skill for me.

  4. Dragoon - Here is my main competition for R7 , and possibly R8, along side Doppelsoeldner, by picking Dragoon I get a more solid stance in PvE should I choose to drop Murmillo in favour of two circles of Dragoon. With three debuffs being Gae Bulg, Serpentine and Dethrone. Dragoon also allows me to have more option in regards to enemy defense type, as well as a larger skill rotation pool to use.

tl;dr - What class should I pick for R7 in my build, Swrd>Pelt2>Barb3>?>Murm.
Peltasta, Hoplite, Doppelsoeldner, Dragoon.

Might as well yolo with pelt C3, why did you take barbarian for? It doesn’t seem to have synergy with murmillo afaik.

I honestly didn’t want to go Rodelero, so I thought why not fit a bit more thematically with the whole Gladiator thing. I’m currently enjoying it so far as well so that helps. Plus pouncing with highguard is so good. Just 10 seconds of no damage and dealing damage to the enemy. I’m also hoping that when the new formulas come out for damage that the defense reduction with physical damage boost from Warcry will scale a bit better.

I still have no clue what to do for R7. Leaning Dragoon into Murmillo. Then when R9 comes out I have the choice of taking the second circle of Dragoon for Dethrone and the Serpetine buff, or seeing what else Murmillo will offer.
