Are you using Windows 10? For some reason, the patch window is broken for W10 users. Open the task manager to see if it’s downloading something, because it’s probably still working. Don’t close the window, just wait a few minutes. You can also resize the launcher background image to see the patching progress. It’s the “main.bmp” file located in the “\release\patch” folder.
