Hypothetical : What if this game released as P2P?

the hardcore content wasnt what brought the game to a failur imo…

the only hard part was the raids. everything else was easy as pie. however dungeons were kinda diffcult when trying to rush.

and they had the right target in mind. it was just to much of another mmo

PvP was a failure, that turned away all the pvp population. They put a woman on duty of managing pvp in the game - and she decided that people will love 40v40 whatever the mode was called over regular arenas. Failed miserably, they swapped her with another guy, but the damage was done and PvPers already quit.
To not mention best pve weapon available from pvp. Whole pve guilds were busy wintrading for few nights straight. And gear inbalance, 1850 person oneshotted a person who didn’t have the gear yet… so <1850 person had to pay >1850 person to get boosted and get said gear.

I still think that catering to casual pleb mob is a wiser choice than catering to 1% of games population, from retaining population standpoint. It’s always the mass that rules, even if imaginary.

Thus - at the current stage of completion ToS would never hold population viable to make the game worth money-wise for its creators as a p2p game.

I’d be vastly more happy with the business model. If hypothetically that was the case.

this game doesn’t offer enough for a subscription status to me

It would fail. We have WoW, FFXIV, and god know how many F2P MMOs such as Blade & Soul, Wildstar, ESO and so on and so on.

ToS is a niche game, and this needs to be understood. It doens’t catters for a big audience, its specific public are people who are into Korean MMOs (which are grindy), with a very specific art style using a 2.5D view. People who like shiny 3D graphics won’t care, people who want to be max level in 40 hours won’t care, people who likes awesome storytelling won’t care and people who want something completely new and different won’t care. In order for you to be successful as a P2P you need to have a huge numbers of players, because most will end up quitting after the first month. And this game simply ain’t it.

It needs to be F2P for people (as in a good amount of players) to even consider playing it, and maybe pay if they find out to like it.

If this means they will get rid of instanced dungeon limits (or at least raise it significantly like at least 3-5 times what token users get it now), and all that trade limit and better server performance I’d pay to play for this game each month.

Since we are talking about comparisons, lets take a look at two games that both failed and re-did the game again. One was a Pay to play FF14 and the other was Free to play, Ragnarok Online 2. The first FF14 was really glitchy. If you walked in an area, you will end up in space where nothing loads or end up in no where land after falling due to a collusion glitch. It was that bad. RO2 the first game, I never played because it was offered in Japan and other places as well , failed. The server closed in all the places they offered RO2 and decided to release RO2 the second in Korea and North America. RO2 the second was also glitchy and was basically a pay to win. On the other hand , FF14 was a big improvement to the first buggy game and is still pay to play. So who won? Well FF14 is still running in the US and Japan and RO2’s Korea shut down as well as the SEA server. The American server is still running, prob hanging on to their life.
I can also see that P2P games lasted longer than about a billion F2P games. The P2P game died MOSTLY out because it was just old. There are some that died because it didn’t have enough players. Most of these game that were P2P and died to age were well know games like Lineage, Ragnarok, WoW, FF, PSO, etc… the only F2P games that lasted and is still working well is LoL and DOA. Most of the others are failures.

I just wish they’d put more restrictions, I am sick of BR’s cluttering up the server, they are rude, tend to be idiots, and never speak the language the damn server is in.

Then you have all the bots, the spammers are gone for now until they relize they have to hit lv 40 which takes a short time when they just bot it.

Then you have the slow as hell spawn rates that are way to slow to support the games population. I mean stuff that drops items needed for a collection on a 5 min respawn timer with less than a 1% chance to drop the item is kinda BS, especally when its only a level 20 ish one. For some reason IMC in their infinte stupidity made it so normal mobs spawn every 2 mins and elites every 5 mins. though they said they halfed it this patch, but I don’t see it, since the mobs i need to hunt still seem to be on 5 min+ respawn times. Here is a video shwoing spawn rates before they were changed (when they never needed to be in the first place) and then they show what they are after the change: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f34FGRngzPU

I’m sorry but in a grind based mmorpg people don’t like to sit and twiddle their thumbs between spawns of normal monsters.

As for the b2p/p2p issue, companies actually make more money if it has microtransactions, assuming the game allows you to freely trade, IMC blocking trading like they do is just going to hurt their own profits, cuz alot of people will buy and sell cash shop items for ingame cash. Making trading how it is atm just hurts them and their profit margins and hurts the game as a whole. Also potential and trades shouldn’t be used when transfering thru team storage, that is just stupid.

I will like p2p for it if it will remove all the stupid restrictions.

I think as a P2P title it would not work… but i also think that as a B2P title with a pure cosmetic cash shop it would be great

I prefer B2P, like what they did to BDO (Black Desert Online).

Why you think so?:credit_card::dollar::credit_card::pound::credit_card::yen:

THat’s easy to guess… the F2P players’s complains will seem like a freaking tornado hitting IMC and ToS reputation… my guess is that on steam review it’ll get to “very bad” in a time lapse of about 2 weeks-2 months.

But i hope i’m wrong

I think the same here.hope imc will fix it befir f2p and open at last 4 more servers and for the first month wont lets the new players join the old servers.

Well… they did say, before the early access, that they would add new “worlds” at F2P release if the older ones were full so i think they will

At least no commander load fail. haha

I would play if it were P2P, $10 p/m and with $100 year bundle. The only thing I don’t agree with your suggestion is the lvl 20 trial, cause it can be abuse by bots, unless they put a lvl restriction in trades/megaphones.
