Hunting experience & montser question

Hi,

I have 2 questions:

  1. How are exp earnt? So if I am killing a monster and depleted it 90% of the hp, and then some KS-er comes and kills my monster. Do I get 90% of the xp or 100% of it? Or 0%?

  2. What’s with the monsters that keep running away when it’s HP is low? This is very annoying as i’m a linker and before I can finish it off, it runs off the screen and breaks my link. Even trying to cash Hangman’s knot is not fast enough due to the animation. Is this intended?

THanks

intended, but yes it’s stupid. they even come back sometimes, I guess game’s trying hard to be “realistic”

Some information that is relevant:

This has information about the split between a monsters level and exp gained.

Seems with some tiny amount of unverified research shows you can’t KS in ToS. If you both hit a monster whether you do 99% of the damage and he does 1% you will both get exp.

Seems under the party system that if you have people ksing around you often (which I imagine they think they are helping as you are a linker) you should invite them. You can get up to 250% more exp.

As for monsters running you need to get the skill with linker that tightens the link of the monsters. Pyro 3 + Linker = nothing lives.

50% of the time, by the time I see it running away and i cast hangman’s knot, it’d have broken the link. The animation is too slow.

Also, is there a maximum level difference for there to be shared experience between party members?

Can you animation cancel by jumping when using hangmans knott? I know it works for buffs but maybe not for skills like that.

Are monsters running that often to be a problem? As a tank I have maybe 5% of monsters run off. I clear up my mobs and then chase them down.

it’s a problem for me cause i’m a linker and it always breaks my link. The monster might not even be a monster i’m targeting, but only a monster that is linked.

I can try jumping, but I doubt it’ll be faster than if I cast it stationary.

I think the best way for you to approach this is to link + do damage, if below 75% hangman’s knot then use earthquake to knock them down. If hp is around 30% start using energy bolt to knock them from their senses and prevent them from running. This only gets problematic for monsters that are unknockable and you are not a cryomancer.
