[Hunter] Skills and pet not working as it should

Date and Time : 2016-04-16

Game Control Mode (Keyboard/Joypad/Mouse) : Auto (Keyboard)

Where it happened (which map, which quest, which npc, etc) : Anywhere

Bug Description : Using skills such as Coursing and Rush Dog doesn’t always work. Pet misses most of the time if the enemy happens to move around. Skills doesn’t care about Target Lock.

I’m still trying to figure out how the class went thru alpha/beta test, QA and programmers and was accepted/added to the game.

First of all, why can you even use the skill if the pet is not in range of the target? I’ve lost tons of SP and cooldowns trying to use Coursing or Rush Dog and my pet just doesn’t do anything because he is “too far away”.
Also, normally you would turn around and look at the enemy with Target Lock on when you use a skill but that doesn’t happen on the Hunter skills for some reasons. Even if you do look at a target and use Rush Dog and there are more enemies around, the pet might just attack the other enemies and not the one you aimed at.

Feedback :

  1. Skills should only be usable if the pet is close enough to use it.
  2. The pet skills should attack the target you look at or have Target Lock on. If you have Target Lock and use the skills, the character should turn around and aim at the monster.
  3. The pet should be able to hit a moving target with his auto-attack.
  4. The pet shouldn’t “reset” and run back to you just because you are not standing really close to the pet/enemy. As a bow user I will be standing as far as I can but still in range for my skills/attacks. Having the pet run around like this is not okey.

Videos :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tO_t-ij32LA (The pet run back to me after every hit because I’m somehow too far away from the pet.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjeluDTa72c (The pet can’t land a single hit on a monster that is moving. Even if he run faster and reach the enemy, his attack is too slow and will end up missing anyways.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWL6Vr02zMk (I’m using Target Lock and look away. First I use the skill Heavy Shot which makes my character to turn around and attack the locked target. When I then use Coursing and Rush Dog my character will not turn around to the locked target. Nothing happens and I’m just loosing SP and skill goes on cooldown.)

If more info/videos is needed just tell me and I’ll make it.

[edit] Using Companion Food in a dungeon doesn’t heal any Health or Stamina on the pet… This is really bad for the Hunter class since they are made to use the pet to attack the monster. Someone in my party said that you can’t feed it in dungeon but nothing tells you that you can’t. Why consume my Companion Food and not even tell me that it can’t be used in dungeons?..

[edit 2] The passive skill Rush Dog: Stun trigger even if the pet never attacked the enemy. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKcgbhtg7Xc )

[edit 3] Pet trigger the level up effect without leveling up. This starts to happen after he level up once and will continue until you change map, channel or logout. The fake level up effect triggers on things like teleport, putting pet to sleep mode and take him out again and some other stuff I’m not sure of yet. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzSQ6I-0obg )

I completely agree!!

And there are lots more bugs.

A can add, it sometimes dissappear, or stay in his last Coursing or Rush Dog position without moving, even if you move very far away, it’s only solved by changing channels.

As more recomendation, we need and agresive/pasive hotkey, and also a return one.
-When you choose agresive stance it attacks the first mob it finds in a certain range.
-In pasive stance it will be always very close to you and only attack mobs that attack you (or you can even do an defensive stance)
-The return button/hotkey, to cancel any attack intent and return to you, or even to use it as a debug hotkey fix.

You can also do an autoskill mode that can be turned off if the Master doesn’t move for a while, to prevent botting or afk farming.

We need the pet system and hunter skills to be worth for the class!
Everybody have pets, and being Hunter doesn’t help to do it worth because as many bugs and bad mechanincs.

I really like this kind of class, and I want it to be nice and very helpfull, I don’t need tons of damage.
I’m also going to be Falconner, hope it works better, if not, please do the same for it!

Sorry for my bad english.
And thank you very much for reading this, Staff.

Please solve and buff the Hunter and the Pet!

I have same problem for Hunter. Waiting for long time. Hoping imc can fixed it …one day…

I’ve tried hunter to see how buggy it was when i notice that pets usually have a really bad AI.
Althought Coursing and Rush Dog are quite good they are really worthless most of the time due to bad Pet AI, if im attacking a target and use Rush Dog the pet will target any random mob instead of the one im attacking, if the pet is out of range he will not attack at all and the skill goes in cd anyway. But there isnt much i can had to this post because it is well written and show how faulty the pet AI is. Thanks for reporting this so well and i really hope it gets fixed because hunter seems like an awesome class to play with
