It’s clear with all the complaints that have run rampant in reddit and itos forums that most people have their own ideas on how to improve this game. If you were in charge of improving ToS, what would you do differently?
Going on an honesty answer:
- Bring it down temporary.
- Do the fixes needed: i do believe there is enough data for it from bug/bot/hack and any other kind of reports.
- After making sure most critical problems are or supposed fixed, run a 1 month CBT to see how the server act with heavy load (lots of players).
- If it ran well it then can be going for OBT, if not, bring it down again and fix what is needed.
- Run another CBT for more tests, i do believe it would be enough just this one.
- OBT till hit Lv 400 then Release.
the developers need to play this game and repairs every bugs they interferes . if dev teams cant handle with so much bug . apply opensource system where it allows community to help fixing / locate bugs . hire a temporary team from other games to help optimize/polish current state of the game .
I think it’s more like, the korean devs need to try playing in servers other than the kToS server. I bet it’s a lot smoother for them since they are in their own region
There is much work to do.
- Rewrite the client to a decent and optimized one.
- Rethink about all the classes and balance of the game, probably nerf the damage of most wizard tree, reduce CCs time of a lot of skills.
- Balance stats of the game like making CON less effective on wizards and more effective on swordman, find a better use for SPR.
- Make damage skills better scalable.
- Rethink about boss and monters AI, it’s so much easy right now.
- Nerf some mobs HP, mobs with more than 100000 HP should not exist because it make harder the balance between PVP and PVE.
- Prepare more events and starting thinking about guild wars and better late game content.

That’s a tough, loaded question. Mainly because everyone would have their own bits more important than others, but the bulk of answers should resonate the same.

Find the person who thought a single core platform in a world where getting 5 cores in a computer is even becoming possible within phones was okay, and swiftly erase their jobs. Hire new people to try and restrip the mono-engine utilizing design to improve optimization.

Run a developer wise test server, mainly for doing things such as above to allow better flexibility of testing as well as applications. Most likely not open to the public as maintaining a server to them may be costly in the long run.

Even if Korean, try and use some type of communication to get in touch with the playerbase. Whether it be the website itself, a company-made stream, or even ingame; reaffirm belief that the game isnt fledgling to strengthen the believers. This also resonates with managing the forums and actually getting rid of the trolls who plague others and the welfare of the game.

Show concepts or ideas and generally get the lifeblood of MMOs, Events, long and rolling. The Scavenger event begins on my Birthday, but it took this long to implement such an event, although I am quite grateful. Transparency TRANSPARENCY TRANSPARENCY. Letting us see what goes on in IMC land helps us support their ideals better.

Get my staff members to play the game without privileges. It actually helps show the conditions that the players have to go through, and the players can feel more comfort to know that the devs and staff members can relate to one another. Let their presence be known, or atleast the ones who wish to talk to the populace while the others play the game solo to experience the fruit of the devs designs. Pretty sure they’d get pissed if the party bug hinders their progress.
And that’s just speaking on a company level. I haven’t even gone into the game itself, more of just practices that help solo developer/publisher companies in the long run. @_@
By completely shutting it down. Then selling the rights to PWE/Trion/or Mail.ru.
That’s beyond harsh.

Besides the obvious (like fixing bugs and making sure classes are balanced)
Add housing, preferably with various utility such as a cooking table (different set of buffs froms quire food buffs) etc. Different furniture materials and drops all around the world.
Make world bosses much stronger and more dangerous, reduce their spawn timer to 30 minutes
Add level 260 andl 280 dungeons where you are forced to kill the normal mobs so you can’t boss rush it, but the cube gives actual worthwhile level 280 loot (not as good as lolopanther though)
EXP continues to give you some sort of small benefit sorta like how other games like Diablo 3 or Marvel Heroes do it.
Add companion gear to the game.
Team Level now also grants (small) stat bonuses, not just exp bonuses, so min-maxers are encouraged to make tons of characters.
Would like for the ability to have three characters out and about at once instead of just one like Granado Esapda had but at that point the game might not be Tree of Savior anymore (not that I’d mind the game not being Tree of Savior anymore at this rate)
hire better people…
I’ve spent most of my gaming hours on only a handful of MMORPGs namely, RO, Dragon Nest, Warframe and DCUO. And I can say it’s a matter of how bugs and content are addressed. you’ll always have bots and illegal activities in any games. Sadly, ToS is the most bug-infested game i played. I’m not a hardcore player and in those previous games i’ve played, whenever there are announcements of bugs that are going to be fixed, I almost always have never even encountered them. this happens most probably around 70~80% of the time.
in the case of ToS, let’s forget about the content and class balance. the bugs are a special kind of stupid. i dont think i’m the only one who feels the game was probably made by some amateur programmer with all the stupid game design decisions (like your attack speed being heavily dependent on ping). most bugs occur so often that it feels we’re playing an alpha-testing version of the game.
just fix the damn bugs and remove guild neutrality
Too be fair, most Korean games have a latency dependancy for attack speed. Simply because they don’t have to deal with moderate to high pings in most cases. So it’s more of a Korean thing, than a amatuer mistake in that regard. Imo.
The bugs are simply baffling though.
it would be acceptable if the game was not initially intended to be released internationally. otherwise, it’s an oversight at best.
Make it a subscription based game like FFXIV
Neople’s a good example, but Neople doesn’t only have a 5 man team. Even back when they were branching out with the beta of DFOg. Their crew was small though.
Infact, if IMC took some notes from Neople I’m sure they’d be in a much better place right now…and oddly enough I feel deja vu from saying that. Not to mention no damn moderation lets the community literally kill itself.
Ahh, that’s what you meant. Then yeah. They commonly have streams too.
