I mean, if I choose archer as my initial class I can just make a quest or something and then become a rogue? Or I need to pass trough all the ranks that came before?

Rogue is Rank 5 of the archer tree. So the best you can do is go archer circle 3 > wugushi or scout > rogue if you don’t want any of the other classes. But yes, you do have to go through the classes that come before it.
