Im just wondering what are some ways one can obtain rare items. From what ive seen, the strongest dps weapon so far is an orange 1h sword Illizia. What are some of your thoughts?

Just like the other items. Through quests, dropping them directly or dropping their recipe from a boss or mob. Blue items weren’t that rare in the beta. Purple is a lot rarer already.
But you can choose from 3 purple armors in a quest at some point.
There people afk farming midbosses in fields in the begginer area.
Atleas tin some videos.
I suspect that some kind of lila or orange can drop by these.
They had rank reward for partipition and respawned fast.
If you just can autoclick atk and face that direction where it spawns. You can go eat something and get a great item for begginers?
You mean the mushroom boss early game? i’m pretty sure it drops wooden kite shields as a rare drop which is one of the best 15-40 shields.

Yeah, the Big Onion in The Miner’s Village drop me a purple shield, The Meteor something. Sorry can’t remember.

So that’s why he afk farmed that spot.
Get purple shields, for yourself and for auction house.
It died in less then 3 seconds too ^^.
So yeah he would get about a 100 per hours like this, chances i mean.

5-man dgn bosses drop Talt, a currency used for things in the future, might get gear that way too.

This website does a pretty good job about where items drop:
For example, the Deathweaver boss in the mines drops possibly the best lvl 15 weapons for every class- this is the stats for the 2 handed sword. Note that the stars (item level) is higher for purple weapons, then the average blue/white weapon.

I’ve been discovering a lot of inconsistencies with that site’s data. I’m sorry to say. I can’t be bothered to find out if a different version is used or what, but you can see that some of the drops differ from ToSbase, which I have used in the iCBT to find stuff fairly reliably.
Lets just an infamous example (at least to some people of iCBT):
Ze Wind Runner boots http://tosdatabase.net/us/recipe/30119/. We all got it from Canceril of Earth, Mr. Krabby Boss of the Builder’s Chapel-- Wait what? This site says that it drops from Archon of Earth, the boss just under this floor…

Wait, Archon of Earth’s drops now match ToSbase’s ones, which seemed accurate then. No more Wind Runner recipe, huh?
And then we all looked for those Forest Leather Boots, hyaha Drawing and Necrover bidding up to 500K. I personally hunted Blue Fragaras myself for hours (and some more with Necro) and got like 8 Ginkgo Leaves and nothing else. Then again, we didn’t get any of the other drops that either ToSBase or ToSdatabase lists either, so Blue Fragaras could just be a bugged mob.
Anyway, I’m sorry for my confusing story, but the conclusion is that ToSdatabase is very confused, not just in incorrect hyperlinks or formatting, because I know other inconsistencies, like this Hogma Great Sword dropping from Zinutekas (Iron Scorpions of the Royal Mausoleum 1/F, instead of Hogma Captains) http://tosdatabase.net/us/recipe/11013/ What kind of sense does that make? Plus I’ve hunted Zinutekas for my Assegai spear from them, which ToSdatabase says it only drops from Loftlems.
ANYWAY DON’T LISTEN TO ME, I’M JUST A TOSBASE LOYALIST. THEY ALSO PAID ME TO SAY THIS. ToSbase must prosper, crush all competition, and have faded yellow donation button from all the clicking one day @ A@
(Really, I wonder why nobody who has played the game said anything about ToSdatabase yet… I guess I just checked for the first time to see that their stuff is all jumbled…)
I can confirm on KR server Hogma Great Sword recipe drop from Hogma Captains.
I have kill ton of Iron Scorpions and never seen one of em drop this recipe. maybe I’m unlucky? @.@
