How to get started

I am fascinated by this game, despite struggling a bit with the graphical style. I love loot hunting and grinding for rare loot and character progression. I am trying to understand how to get started in ToS to see if I can get into it and enjoy it.

  1. Can I skip all quests, I really do not like questing
  2. Do enemies become a challenge, right now I can just press “Z” over and over and everything I hit dies in a couple of swings at level 15.
  3. Does super rare loot exist to hunt for?
  4. Can I just go exploring zones etc?
  5. Recommended solo class?
  6. Is end-game rewarding and does it have content?

Appreciate any help getting started.

You can, but some Main Quests (yellow ones) give +3 stats point + some Revelations for collections, also, some of these also unlock the Legendary Card Slot, then again, you can do all this after reaching max Lv.

Leveling is extremely easy till Lv 200 for new players (more easier for who have Team Lv 30+). If you keep buffed from Pardoner Shops, you won’t fear death till around 200-230 depending on your stats and gear, but nothing that you can cover with pots or your healing skills (strictly for Cleric tree in some classes or Feather Foot in Wizard tree).

There are 2 types of loot:

  • Recipe ones have specific stats, some give +N Certain Class skill Lvs or some special effects like Ignition burning damage.
  • Unidentified gear can come with: Blue, Purple and Orange qualities, but have basic stats randomized (STR/DEX/CON/INT/SPR, HP/SP, etc…) but no special effects like described on the item above.

You can, altho, some maps, specially dungeon areas and hunting grounds, enemies are aggressive, so be read to face attacks even if you don’t attack them.

Any class has its pro and cons, but an easy one and less expensive as of actuality is Falconer 3 in Archer tree due to be pretty strong even with non-expensive gear, or to avoid use of pots, Cleric tree have some builds for that and Wizard tree also have some options but may be on the expensive side.

Barely, maybe in a guild, I’m not sure since I don’t bother with them. You will be in an endless grinding for mats or recipes that are necessary to increase your damage and/or defense. Being in a Guild may accelerate greatly the process tho.

TL:DR: Try the game at your own pace, if you think it’s worth looking for a guild, do some research first to find one that fit your liking.
You might bump in a lot of bugs/glitches and specially bots running loose, just ignore and keep going till you are satisfied.
