How to Fix Tree of Savior

Hello IMC,

I’m sure this thought has crossed your collective mind, but I think you should hear it from a player.

For reasons which are self explanatory, you should pull the game off steam and focus exclusively on fixing the issues plaguing this game, otherwise I don’t see a future for ToS. Make the smart move IMC, deliver the product we all wish we had. I don’t mind waiting anymore.

Edit: I just saw IMCs post about no access to new players. This is a step in the right direction, but it will not help salvage the existing player base once they get fed up and leave. The whole idea with pulling the game off steam is that players won’t rage quit the game they have no game to complain about. That’s just my opinion, but I’m sure it makes sense to others as well.

Here you go.

Greetings Saviors,

We are planning to temporarily limit new players from accessing Tree of Savior and have currently requested that Valve restrict newer players from downloading the game. Current players will have no problems in accessing the game.

Such restrictions are being implemented so that we can solve issues regarding server stability, client-side lag and other service related problems. The decision was made after serious internal debate on how to best to enhance the gaming experience for current and future players alike.

These restrictions will be put in place as soon as they are implemented by Valve and will be lifted as soon as the issues have been resolved. There will be another announcement as soon as the restrictions are implemented.

Thank you for your continued understanding, cooperation and support for Tree of Savior.

Sincerely,
IMC Staff

I think OP wants IMC to shut down the game for everyone and not only for new players otherwise this topic would be a joke.

That is not good. To help fix the bugs, they need to see the bugs, they need people playing. That why 100% of games today are released full of flaws, most of the bugs don`t show out unless thousand people are playing, particularly online games.

Besides that It`s ok for you but most people that play and pay wants to keep playing

True, but I think they have a good list of bugs at this point to fix. Plus, this all sounds like closed beta stress test to me, which the game clearly is not at this point.

Then Tree of Savior would lose it’s dedicated paying customers. There’s a lot of those from early access, some like me who waited years. They need to fix stuff yes, but I can’t see people who have paid for this game waiting around months more for it’s re-release, at least not with a good amount anger. It’s a good thing they closed it off to new players until things are fixed however, as people who are coming in after F2P were either too cheap to pay the ten bucks (not saying anything bad here, know a few friends that way) or are just “passing through” looking for a random MMO. With the state of things a less dedicated player is way less likely to stick around than if they try it after a few fixes some months from now.

The game has really gotten a bad reputation as is. Lets hope they can turn it around.

They simply can shut down a game while people that paid wants to play. Don`t be fooled by rage topics, this game have 22k people online right now, that is far more people than the ones whining that the game is unplayable. Before closing the game saying it’s unplayable, they would have to explain to the 22 thousand people playing what paradox means.

If you don`t know what is 22k: More than Dark Souls III

It was 53k two weeks ago  , but you’re right, those of us voicing concerns are a minority, but obviously MOST people just quit and move on.

Just like every game, that is normal, even in buy to play, FTP it`s even worse.

I hope so. But as a paying customer myself, I would prefer a re-release with a solid game, and maybe some perks for those of us who already spent money on the game.

Both sides of this argument are valid. IMC met us halfway with the new player restriction. It’s a good idea, I just hope they capitalize on it.

Games usually experience growth before peaking, ToS peaked on week 1.

Edit: I meant to say “Good games experience growth before peaking”. And thanks for rewriting your statement. I don’t know what part of my discussion triggered that response. I’ve been pretty civil.

I dont think there is 1 f2p mmorpg released on steam that has done that. It’s just not in this genre.

When I asked them to compare the steamchart to other f2p mmorpg games on steam, they didnt; cause it looked pretty much the same.

Anyways, the 2nd and 3rd post answered this thread.

ToS could have been an exception, it had everything going for it. I just can’t accept that the game I waited 2 years for is being compared to “other f2p mmos”, when it could have set the standard for the future of quirky niche mmos.

The peak is few days after lauch. TOS was on 4th day, Dark Souls 7th, Stellaris 2nd, The Division 4th.

The Division lost 50% in the first 14 days after peak and was a massive PAID AAA, to be honest, TOS numbers are strangely good, almost inexplicable.

That is why all FTP games sucks in first month (in terms of server capacity), they know 65% of players will leave in 3 weeks, so there is no need to invest in servers that will be idle in the future.
