How to deal damage as a wizard rank 2?

Right now I’m trying to get a wizard to rank 3 and change to elementalist after that. But I really have trouble doing damage and soloing bosses compared to other classes.

If I go full INT: I do some decent damage, but I dont have the SP pool to keep up and need tons of potions.

If I go hybrid INT/SPR: My damage drops significantly and I still run out of SP quite alot.

If I go pure SPR: I dont deal damage, but can spam skills. But thanks to bad regeneration during combat, I still need potions after some spells

Any advice? I upgraded my staff to +5 and use earthquake lvl 10 and energy bolt lvl 1.

Short answer is, you don’t. You literally have no means to do any significant damage at Wiz C2.

Basically until Rank 4, you’re going to be very reliant on supporting your team through sleeping mobs, putting lethargy on bosses (with the strike attribute), and reflect shielding so anyone with a charge skill won’t flinch.

Earthquake is a good 1 point wonder for disruption of enemies but that seems more like for PvP. Energy Bolt is the same since they don’t really scale well with the skill points that you put into them.

At Rank 3 with Wiz C3, you finally get a decent skill, Magic Missile, but seeing as it is your only skill, you’d basically still basically inclined to level with a party and do stuff as a support IMHO.

Try bolt 10, is not that bad as people say.

And go for linker 1 before elementalist, you don’t really need wiz 3.

IMO, wiz2 is absolutely THE worst class to be.

You need to have a high level companion (pet) to help you power level. So that mean leveling a hunter first to get a free companion and get it to decent level.

You can always have friends to help you level, but I personally hate to trouble my friends to carry such a dead weight.

Basically just suffer till your not a wizard anymore.

You are doing it wrong if you don’t choose fire or ice for R2/R3 then in R4 you are called the role of the class in TOS… 3 ranks in wizard can drag you levelling slow but its save your 2 decent buffs for future pvp mode…

Lethargy doubles the dmg of Earth Quake (you will notice it hits twice and the total is always 200%), you do not need the blunt attribute for that–it has nothing to do with it. That helps a bit on bosses. Otherwise auto attack unless you put more then one point in energy bolt for some reason.

I’d put probably put a max of 10 points in Con… And rest in Int. Spirit is not something you want to invest a lot in. But a little bit is ok… Like… 1 in 10 points… Just spam weak mana pots. There is some argument for doing more because of reflect shield but I think it’s a weak one unless you’re running around with summons that scale on spirit and they need the tankyness.

Is PvP alone worth al lthe suffering? Why not becme a Pyro or Ice right on Circle 2?

Because quickcast gives you 50% extra Matk. And has a decent uptime.

Edit: Actually I should correct that… Quickcast gives you 50% extra magic dmg dealt. It would be better if it was flat Matk because of how Mdef scales… but it isn’t. It just modifies the end damage.

I really do it just for the quick cast, because I want to use it for Meteor (and ofc other spells). Meteor lvl 10 has 10 seconds cast time, which is so much, that the boss will rarely let you cast it. With surecast (wizard rank 2) and quick cast (wizard rank 3) you deal tons of damage, you cast it quick and the boss will not be able to interrupt you.

PS: I think Magic Missile should be a rank 2 spell, so you can at least compete a little bit with other wizard branches on lvl 2.

I would like to see Surecast get an attribute that buffs Energy Bolts or Earth Quake rather then moving magic missiles to C2. And it keeps with the theme of Wizards doing spell combos. It really does need to be something powerful though… Such as: Energybolt deals increased damage and AoE while Surecast is active. Or… Earth Quake double casts while Surecast is active.

im wizard rank 3 and now elementalist rank 1 and i didnt have any problem leveling with max energy bolt max magic misiles and max earthquake ( SPR builD) ofc other classes like archer do more dmg but i didnt deal low dmgs with those skills…
