How to Aggro Without Peltasta

Hello. I’m 240+ lvl and this is not a whine thread.

Just a reminder to most of the people out there - there are other easy ways to aggro multiple enemies apart from Peltasta. Not saying they are better - just that a lot of people neglect them even without Peltasta on a team, or else, view Peltasta as the only option period, not even considering them.

First of all - Any class - keep your pet up. It is good at breaking through the aggro limit on mobs per player, just like quite a few of options below, and is available to any class. The downside, of course, is that your pet will not always stand in a same tile with you, so consider switching it on/off depending on situation. Generally, when you go without Peltasta, you’d still want to have your Pet on at all times.

Additionally, certain classes, like Quarrel Shooter, Corsair, Krivis, Sorcerer, Necromancer or Dievdirbys, have skills that either summon or place objects/units on the battlefield - like Pavise, Aukuras, Jolly Roger, etc. Those objects also count as a possible target for mob agression and can be placed to gather mobs around them. Those that don’t move and last long (Aukuras, Jolly Roger) are possibly the best to use on-spot, but some mobs tend to just ignore them. Summons are of course great for aggro, but can runaway and live their own life somewhere (thx for nice AI IMC).

There is also a matter of large-AoE debuffs like Barbarian’s War Cry that can also be used to gather mobs. I haven’t researched it yet, so feel free to tell about your experience here.

Try to do that in storage 252+ and see what happens, the magic will tear you appart! (HS Quote)

Pyro’s Flare and Cryo’s Ice Blast can also agro in a moderate radius around the player, similar to Warcry’s. I think pretty much anything that can debuff or attempts to, will.

Unforunately due to the mob agro limit, these types of agro have very little use aside from non-instant agro areas sadly. :frowning2:

Yeah well, people simply don’t use them.

Mobs still gather pretty slow if not pushed, peltasta-less swordsmen that can warcry/pistol shot/jolly roger should do that to aggro at range, not run to every mob with their autoatk and then gather manually. People just don’t understand those skills can be used that way - that’s what I’m pointing at.

I am peltastaless myself, and I’ve experienced good Pelta exp boost several times, but obviously your team composition will not always be ideal, ppl should learn to make do with what they have.

Threat is based on damage outside of Swashbuckling.
Swordsman get seemingly up to 500% more so Swordsman is the class with real sticking power.
While you can get mobs to attack other things, since those things don’t create aggro via damage the moment you hit them you’re going to get targetted.

That is another topic entirely - about a lot of swordsmen not understanding Swashbuckling alone is not enough and reliable AoE is required.

Still, in most cases it’s still about that initial pull of larger mob, as decent setups tend to finish mobs fast enough to never worry much about those things. Reason why some high-level parties roll without heal, but with good peltasta.
