How many of you have been affected by BOTS?

This isn’t another rant, this isn’t another suggestion, this isn’t an information type post.

I have one simple question that will hopefully allow me to build a small case / and help offer an ‘realistic’ suggestion to the members of ToS.

How many of you have been personally affected majorly by bots? Does the presence of ‘any’ bots absolutely kill the game for you to the point of not playing it entirely?

NOTE: If you have used a bot, please specify yes. If a bot has made your playing experience so horrible that you decided to quit a game specify yes. If you continued to play a game despite it having bots specify no. If a bot has personally insulted or threatened to kill you in real life please specify yes. If you have ever boughtt gold from a bot please specify yes. If you have played a game that you know has bots but have never really cared or noticed their existence specify no. If a bot has ever beaten you out for a raid spot specify yes.

I encountered those warping bots in the iCBT and still on kToS when it was not in beta anymore.

I’ve stolen grinding spots without botting, and it is much more enjoyable that way doing it yourself with an evil look on your face and typing insane things into chat. So no, I have not been affected by a bot.

in KTOS from map Lv1 - 50.

Hard to do quest because bots with speed hack and aoe range hack.

So on this note … does a warping bot affect you personally? I guess what i’m trying to ask … is the warping bot worth sacrificing all these trade restrictions we currently have?

Now this is interesting … if bots are constantly found here and not only because the game is new then this is a good reason to choose yes.

Would you prefer having the complete ability to trade and use the auction house with friends or anyone in the game even if it means that bots can sell their gold easier?

Yea. I’m trying to show that actually very few people are ever REALLY affected by a bot. Sure they make a few areas difficult, and it’s frustrating that they sell gold to those that don’t want to earn it themselves. But outside of that they do relatively little to the average player.

So are all these trade restrictions that keep players from being able to fully enjoy the game with their friends really necessary?

IMO Yes. Bots killed RO official servers, it will kill ToS if it isn’t prevented, that being said they should develop a anti bot program like how RO private servers now have gepard shield, and/or pay people to bot hunt.

Anti-bot programs are expensive, generally intrusive to a system and are only partially effective at what they do. I suspect the majority of the reason there may not be many bots in these RO private servers is that there is no profit to be made there.

This is exactly what I am attempting to portray to the ToS community. The truth in large is that bots cause relatively little obvious negative experiences to the ‘average’ player.

They should be controlled as best as they can, but restrictions that severely impede a players enjoyment of the game should be non-existent especially if they are in-effective.

Well, if you are leaving in a dungeon and some bot is warping all over the place then…yea, it affects me personally. However, all the trading restrictions won’t change a thing about botting. Whoever said that all those limitations would help with botting is either disillusioned or does not understand that botting would actually be worth spending money for a token…oh, maybe they are pretty much aware that botting is well worth it and are happy botters are going to pay for tokens…

Yes…

RO - bots partially made me quit the game

WoW - honor bots and kickbots(this especially) in arena made me quit the game. The kickbot is basically like a hack that automatically interrupts players’ cast.

BnS - I barely play anymore… PVE = full of bot armies, gold seller spam. PVP = full of bots in arena below diamond rank.

These are the only major MMOs I played beside Tera. There was no bot in Tera I just got bored after a year…
