How is Dragoon in the new patch?

Hello folks, i have a 284 doppel ( sw1-high1-barb3-doppel3) and a 289 Dragoon ( Sw3-Cata3-Drag2). From here i will talk about my experience about those 2 class so far ( cannot talk about the future/ next hours until i test all). On the chart, doppel3 has tons of damage more of the dragoon2 ( jsut think about the combo Cleave + Zwerchhau + Warcry + 2 cyclones), BUT i have learned that the damage output is not all in this game ( i’m talking about pve); lets think about Pain barrier ( maybe irrilevant from today), that allow Catagoon to avoid to be knocked down for the 90% of the fight ( a knocked swordie is a useless swordie), let’s think about the insane mobility of Catagoon ( better reposition, faster gae bolg lance recovery) and let’s think about the most important ( in my opinion) factor: cooldowns: Cyclone has nearly 1 minute cd, Sturtzhau has 32 sec, warcry around 50 sec. Now look the dragoon’s cooldown: Dethrone 16 sec, Serpentine 20 sec, Dragontooth 17 sec. Ok, gae bulg has 30 sec, but isn’t the most important spell ( serp + dethrone is), nad dragoon can filler with the cataph spells like rush. doppel has a better burst so far, but dragoon has a better damage in the time, more mobility, more utility ( don’t forget about dethrone debuff). In conclusion: is too early now to speak about Dragoon or doppel, lets test everything and see. Sry for the long post and for my terrible english. See ya

We complain about Cataphract because Dragoon is DEPENDANT from Cataphract. No you can’t use Hoplite 3 to replace it. Because you will not be able to touch anyone with your animations and delay. Try it by yourself during the even. Hoplite 3 to Dragoon is good, to play PvE, but Cataphract is mandatory for Dragoon.

Bash is ok for cancel someone / push someone out from an area / win time for CDs or help someone. But you can’t bash then chain with Dragoon skills. You can’t because at first, you will not reach melee range. And even if you are ignored because your class is a low priority to focus, your KD will make you out of range of most spells. Also, if you don’t stun immediatly, your just done. When Cataphract can secure your animations by coming very close, very fast.

Oh, but i see why you say stupid things, you are just here to troll us and end your post with a ridiculous and provocative value judgement.

It’s roughly what I thought would happen. To play Dragoon effectively, you have to balance 3 or 4 buffs, and 2 or 3 debuffs. The animations, and hit boxes simply don’t have enough time to account for this. It’s basically impossible to juggle all the things we need to do to even be on par with the other classes. This is going to be incredibly difficult to play for no real reward, the exception maybe being able to use 1H+Spear depending on your build which would give you a survivability advantage over the other classes. More testing is needed, and I too need to improve my ability on the new rotation, but it just looks impossible with what we’re given.

It really is a great update, but we were a casualty for the improvement. We should begin suggesting improvements and hope IMC addresses it quickly.

Keep testing, let’s see entirely what we have to work with.

I don’t really consider balance when we talk about PvE. Between someone who can 2 shot mobs and someone who overkill them at 255% every time, their is not so much difference of game experience if the class gameplay is satisfying (exemple, hard charging skils are very fun vs bosses on PvE, but that’s not possible 99% of the time to use them in PvP).

Paladin sucks atm, but i like them anyway in PvE with their demon damage. Their is not any balance in PvE and unless a class can’t achieve most content, this is not needed to “truly” balance PvE. But that’s just my opinion ^^.

With the correct class path, especially after rebalance, in term of DPS, Doppel can reach 10x the DPS of the Catagoon. No joke, just test the highlander x) …

Barb 3 as some good skills but that’s one of the worst class too. Highlander is far stronger.

Tried now using warcry/frenzy and cleave/seism.
It’s rather fun for now.
Tomorrow i’ll try something else too
Same for Str and Dex, now need to know which is better

i dont really like the damage of my hop3 dragoon 2 now and the finesta - evasion is so high compare before RIP dodger

yah they add +50 crit rate but d@mn u know the -Evasion is so high negative evasion T_T and no more buts eVA sion RIP dragoon so suck right now

I know it’s crazy talk, but ayone tried SW2>Barb2>Hop2>Drag2 ?

  1. 250 crit from Wild Nature+Cleave+Finestra

  2. Stuns from Barb make Thrust bleeding useable.

  3. Slash options along pierce options.

Use leather armor for crit rate too

Tried that. Not working well, too short debuff duration to deploy all skills and I think that wild nature is quite awkward to stack.

My goon is doing insane dmg. I think people are not considering how good Gae Bulg is, it literally doubles all your dmg. Which I think wouldn’t be bad for Goon C2 but that’s not my flavor of tea.

No dragoon2 in your video that is the core problem of OP.

You are also giving us more proofs of how useless dragoon skills are. You don’t use them besides putting Gae bulg debuff. Note that you need to be invisible to use it properly.

You are favoring Highlander’s skills in your video because they are MORE EFFECTIVE than dragoon ones.
Dragoon skills are more or less at the filler level and it is sad for a R7-8 class.

Honestly dragoon skills are bad, dmg is rather low for weapon i’m using as u can see in video. Yes gae bulg does technically increase our dmg by 2 times but the mechanics behind him is rly bad.
I didn’t get lv10 dragontooth because i don’t wanna sit for 2sec for a slight dmg increase.

On a sidenote i can tell that lv15 synchro thrust with lv5 pierce attribute (no dmg enchance attrib) can do more damage than dethrone with lv30 enchance attribute when u get counter.

Yeah screw Goon C2 XD

True the other skills for goon are not great. When you solo, yeah invis helps a lot with Gae bulg. Bosses are very easy to hit without invis. I’m not using a mount so I don’t have that extra speed.

You go Goon C1 for Gae bulg and the big game hunter passive.

+100% more dmg from gae bulg.
+10% more dmg to bosses
+20% more dmg to large monsters.

edit: This requires you to use a 2h Spear though. Kind of a trade off.

That’s already better than Doppel C1’s DoV. You don’t need to buff and then get hit 5 times. It’s very fast and the cool down of gae bulg matches shinobi clone’s CD.

Also I out damage most classes if i use my rotation properly during boss fights. I pooped on a C3 Monk with decked out gear and a +14 Vienarazis Mace and I’m using a weak cripple +10 (level 220 2h Spear). With my Chap/Miko/Taoist buddy, I am able to kill every mission boss in less than a few seconds.

If you want to start your rotation with goon skills, I would vote against going goon then. But if you are using it to support your build, it’s definitely an amazing class to go. Going Goon R7 and Lancer R8 would be super badass too. Doubling all your lancer combos would be great. Hoplite to double dmg with spear lunge would create some great results i bet.
