How important is swash buckling at higher levels?

Everywhere in kToS videos i’m seeing a standard peltast+linker combo, where the peltast uses SB and linker JP+HKs them together. Or that a tank uses SB and simply blocks, while the elementalist/archer bursts down everything. And also to prevent mobs from killing paper teammates. Pretty much everything

Is it a must to have peltast c1 for a swordie? Otherwise i’m just looking at swordies having to go to each mob and burst them down, where i’m pretty sure thats far less efficient than a SB, and also probably costly from the SP pots to maintain the grind.

I currently intend to go for a HL>HL>HL>corsair>doppel>doppel, but after looking around, i feel that a peltast is far better than one HL or the corsair.

Any feedback would be nice.

Would also like to know how much drop rate does jolly roger give.

use the search function

maybe u should actually use the search function before telling others to do so.

information from last year are outdated with the current kobt.

Maybe you should learn how to read, topics can be sorted by relevance, latest post etc

I don’t know about kOBT but there’s clearly something you’re missing when making this build…
Highlander, Corsair, Doppel and Peltasta all use different weapons…

Highlander and Doppel are two-handed (HL gets +50% Crit ATT Doppel Rank two skills all require 2h)
Corsair is meant for dual-wielding (Although the only skill in C1 is Dust Devil)
And Peltasta uses a shield. (All skills require it except guardian)

This should at least help a little with your build. :stuck_out_tongue:

I intend to use 2h swords, corsair skills do not require dual wielding since i dont use dust devil, and that u can switch weapon sets from 2h sword to sword and shield, then switch back again.

Well unless there’s new information where SB can only be maintained with a sword and shield, then it should be fine.

@ralphdeduyo if u have information on how much more important SB is in higher levels then kindly share it. there’s no point in telling others to search when there is clearly no answer to my question

Well then, I suppose you could do that… Although you would really just be using it for swashbuckling.
Also definitely do not sacrifice C3 highlander the DPS increase from it is insane. (900 some damage for one Crosscut/Sky liner (not including the overheat on CC or the 0 CD on SL) better Moulinet or Catar and best of all Skull Swing because apparently Armor Break reduces armor to 0)
Corsair basically only gets you Jolly Roger, and should be replaced if you plan on taking Peltasta.

ah yes, definitely. I’m hoping not to take out HL c3 due to skyliner/crosscut.

However i’m curious as to how the drop rate from jolly roger turns out, if the drop rate is actually substantial, i wouldn’t mind taking out HL c3 since doppel does give some good damage via zucken/zornhau/redel, as well as the all-powerful spin2win.

Of course, this is all subjective to how needed is SB in level 200+. i’m assuming majority of the grinding is similar to lower levels, but i dont know enough for high level dungeons to be able to confirm. I’ve seen something in the forum about an earth tower that requires special tactics in order to progress.

if u want to pvp, get corsair c1, if u dont care about pvp u can go for pelt.

I like your build, but it’s better used together with actual tank. I’m planning to make a corsair gang with pelt C3 corsair C3 as a leader, dual wielding Corsair as single target dps, Highlander Doppel Corsair for massive 2H destruction, and supporting mage and priest.

Parties w/o peltasta are truly inefficient, but peltasta C1 is usually not enough. C1 is usually used as subtank to distract random mobs from backline. Good example of C1 peltasta is Peltasta C1, Hoplite C3,Doppel C1 Dragoon C1. It will still dish out lots of damage but it’s also quite tanky.

Highlander C3 has very few tanking capabilities, and it’s not that good as main tank. So you can freely go w/o Peltasta using full STR build and play a role of frontline DPS dealer and you will need to find a tank in your party.
