its ok…
all classes have a downside or the dash is meh!
I’m indifferent.
They have 3 more base move speed, to even out a little. So they’re slightly more mobile in a fight without sprints, where I personally think the speed matters the most.
Edit: Plus non-cannon Archers have Swift Step to move around during some of their shooting, which is pretty darn nice
I very rarely sprint even when on swordies pre-re:build, unless I’m in that big of a hurry. I got too used to never having it to care about using it.
Plus I main a Wizard now, and their sprint is slooooow
It feels kind of weird since it’s useful only outside of combat, whereas the other classes can kind of use it to dodge/reposition/kite . Moving through maps is a bit of a pain, but I guess it needed a drawback like Scout’s.
More than anything I wish archer would have a conflict avoiding skill a la Cloaking, or maybe a skill to make re-positioning easier. Other than those, I don’t really feel the need for dash to work in combat.
Then again, I may be biased since I’m a musketeer so I’m used to being slow and standing still lol.
this “cannot dash while in combat” are just too long, im literally cannot dash in raid like velcoffer
even using buffs skill are counted as entering combat mode,
i prefer to have scout or even wiz dash rather than cannot dash at all
Id rather have wizard sprint, you’re constantly in combat.
I believe there is a simple reason behind this, and that reason is because Archers are already very mobile while attacking.
All other Classes, especially Swordsman & Cleric, are very static with their attacks, so they need to make up for the distance they could’ve covered by moving whilst attacking by sprinting after attacking.
Wizards have a lot of long spell animations and cast time, so they also need to be able to dash while in combat simply because they aren’t able to move while attacking (except for some exceptions like casting Alchemistic Missile/Rune of Justice while moving).
Scouts are mostly either close combatants or medium range tier, and with the upcoming armor attributes, being locked to leather, they need an active dash during battle so they can evade actively.
So, to give you a simple reason why Archer cannot dash during combat is because they already can move while attacking and/or attack from a safe distance with increased power (e.g. Kneeling Shot, Bazooka, Snipers Serenity).
They are always in and out of combat at the same time, which is a great advantage.
Meanwhile, Clerics and Wizards and Swordsmen have basically phases of in combat (i.e. when they attack with skills) where they cannot move since skill animations lock them in place.
Their “out of combat” is basically every time they don’t attack, allowing them to do other things like moving.
How often I had to interrupt channeling/casting to move out of the danger zone…
Archer can basically freely move in and out of the danger zone, which is why they do not need to be able to dash/sprint while in combat.
This is setting the difficulty of Archer higher, but at the same time it balances against the huge advantages Archer have when dealing damage out of the danger zone and their upcoming additional boosts from wearing Leather armor.
It’;s not as if Archer has a disadvantage by not dashing during combat but rather the other way around, the other Classes are reimbursed for their clunky and static gameplay so they feel less static and clunky and can have that action gameplay feeling.
It’s a nightmare. Too many things non-combat related put you in a combat state.
I think it’s an issue with the combat state itself though rather than an issue of the dash. It would be better if combat state was determined by the last time you took damage–with maybe an exception coded for the Velco map DoT.
This is oddly my biggest gripe about Rebuild.
Question for archers here, does sitting down briefly put you out of combat?
i really rather get wizard slow dash than this, too much restriction.

This. You can’t even hit stone tree crystals to recover stamina while you’re exploring/doing quests because that puts you into a combat state.
Fade and other stealth/non combat skills put you in combat mode
