Just like the title says, i’m a complete noob and i’m just thinking of building my own pvp oriented character. Did pvp char have a hard time leveling in tos?
btw I’m about to build a catagoon with full high dex/con.
That highly depends what class you want to play.
PVP Clerics can heal regardless where they are.
But PVP Swordies often dont have a rank in Peltasta, which severely affects their grinding prospects. Your catagoon is most likely one of these.
They do pretty well usually, esp ur cata goon. Well my pelta cata goon feels solid in PvE at least.
The pvp builds that suffers the most are normally non-pelt swords and heavy single target reliant builds (eg Hunter)
Now that you’ve mentioned hunter. Hunter is considered PvP if build for such end. But what about hunter 3 falconer 3? Is this build for PvP?
I don’t think it has a place in 5 v 5 and in 2 v 2 while you may render 50% of the enemy team unable to move. There’s way too many things that can OHK archers out there, so for PvP Hunter 3 Falconer 3 is not ideal at all.
Now what about PvE? Well it can certainly solo some things, but it struggles a lot on its own, however. In a party I find hunter 3 falconer 3 can bring a nice amount of utility by increasing enemies hitbox and allowing physical classes to hit everything within circling and allowing an extra hit to pop up. Growling also suddenly became amazing with aiming.
Rank 8 rendered many archers useless at PvP but it atleast salvage some other archers for PvE.
But you are talking end game content.
Hunter 3 does not provide much utility when you are available to get it (Rank 5, or lv125~175) and should be skipped until later levels if you are able to do so.
For example. I’m making an Archer 2 -> Hunter 3 -> Falconer -> Scout -> Mergen and I regret not going Archer 2 -> Hunter 2 -> Scout -> Falconer -> Hunter 3 -> Mergen instead…Hunter is quite hard to level due to not having multitarget DPS tools for pve.
Yup hunter absolutely sucks when it’s supposed to be taken I agree with that.
But I find it quite interesting that a class that could go unnoticed in a party in the prior to rank 8 content can now be observed to do something.
I think this is thanks to the stupidly high pool of HP mobs got, Now you can actually see growling do something paired with aiming. it does something in quite a large area.
As a hunter prior to the rank 8 update it absolutely sucked to be a hunter, now it sucks slightly less. But atleast now we can perform that “crowd control” thingy that was mentioned in the tooltip although, late.
That’s a good point.
The stronger mobs become the more useful Hunter C3 becomes due to the class having the strongest CC pve-wise, unless they decide to implement mobs immune to Hunter CCs, like the ones from demon prison.
@edit
An edit just to show off my partners

Immune to CC stuff really, really shouldn’t exist <.<. Resistant can be, Immune Hell no. It adds an artificial barrier and not to forget that it makes hunter completly useless since retrieve/coursing both are “CC” that also inflicts damage.
That’s only immune to certain tiers of CC, Hunter for some reason has Tier 10 and now that you’ve taken my original intent and twisted it (due to my own fault by not being specific, let me fix that) In the realm of PvE monsters should be resistant and not entirely immune, Players can get away with it being bound by some but not all of the rules.
