Has anyone ran the numbers on this?
I’m looking at a possible combo:
Gung Ho > Sharp Spear > Epee Garde > Spear Lunge > Preparation > Throw Rete > Stabbing
Stabbing 6228% + Gung Ho 1930.68% + Spear Lunge 3114% + Throw Rete 9964.8% = 21237.48%
Preparation = 42474.96%
Critical = 63712.44%
Sharp Spear + Epee Garde = 135070.37% - 151380.757% (Not sure if they get added or multiplied)
I haven’t played Fencer in a while, so I can’t remember if Preparation is a base multiplier or a total multiplier.
Dont wanna hijack your thread but figured Ret players might come here and you might be one too. I’m wondering if Ret/Hoplite/Barb or Dopp is a good PvE build? 1H asio spears are cheap right now and primus daggers are too. It seems to offset the damage difference from a 2H pike by having a dagger instead of taking a 1H spear and shield so i’m wondering how good Ret is in PvE? Their skills seem to have decent AoE ratio, a crowd mobbing skill and all have good crit rate and skill factor to mixed with Hoplite crit dmg buffs.
Sharp spear + epee is multiplicative as seen by imc’s post, but they patched epee on spear so its not possible to do this combo.
Also sharp spear wont apply when you are wearing a rapier. So rapier + epee + sharp spear will not work. You will have the buff but it won’t add damage.
Throw rete only applies if you are using a spear. And so you will lose epee. You can prep though
prep is also additive with all these debuffs so doubling 21237.48% is not right
So half of your combo will not actually work.
As it is, going Ret for PvE is detrimental to all builds damage wise since stronger options exist such as Barb, hop and maybe highlander

What would be a build you recommend for someone for PvE with 1H spears? I’m Lancer > Cata > Hop right now but got some change points saved up and I dont like the way lancer is playing + I failed my Asio pike so bad…+6 0 Potential. Now 1H spears are so cheap I’ll probably try them out but idk if a build like Hop > Goon > Barb Or hop > barb > Cata is any good or not. I see some people running Pelt in a 1H spear build but i dont really need that extra defense honestly especially if I start running a shield now.
by PvE I mean Velc raid, Irridian HG, CM’s (solo and party) and guild activities.

Hoplite can choose either spear throw or stabbing. Can take some point from pierce or sharp spear to max stabbing. I take spear throw for the crowd control and my skill rotation is sufficient without it. Or you can take 1 spear throw and stabbing with sacrificing point from other skill. Spear throw also give shock debuff to combo with dragon fall.
Dragoon gae bulg too annoying to use while serpentine is just lacking in damage and execution. Learn how to on/off helmet cos the sp cost is too much. I only use light helmet attribute.
Barbarian not much to change, just max his buff first then finish with seism and cleave.
My skill selection just enough rotation without too much in my hotkey. In velcoffer, I can still can compete top dps vs other classes with similar or better geared player.
thanks alot. Gae Bulg isnt worth a 1 point too boost damage with its debuff? even if just on bosses? Also you run 1H spear and shield I assume? Which shield you rocking, Velc, Primus or Solmiki? Not very versed in what is worth pursuing in shields.
I find it too annoying to be in my rotation. Take it and maybe you’ll find the right use with it.

I dont know much about dragoon but this seems fine. Id definitely get 3 or 4 stabbing. 1 pt for spear throw if you want it.
Damn, I thought that Epee Garde still worked while using a spear. They could change the description and make the skill work on all rapier attacks, to make it more flexible. Shame.
Epee auto swap bug just got fixed about 1-2 weeks ago
That makes me feel that Hard Shield is next.
