Highlander 3 star feels... crappy

Yeah first class i decided to go 3 star highlander. The first tree was solid the second tree was passable and i was looking with high hopes for the third star… It was garbage.

I meet other highlander and its like the depression train. I even get laughed at by a couple randoms every day after i used my 3 star abilities skull / cleave and they talked about their depressed friends who went 3 star highlander.

The last two abilities have no flair, the skull swing (or whatever its called… dont kill me forum warriors) is the better of the two. The cleave or the remaining skill just looks and feels crappy.

Any chance of getting an animation / utility fix.

The skills are meant to be used together. Skull Swing is the debuff, just like Crosscut. Then Vertical Slash is the followup, just like Skyliner. It does a huge amount of bonus damage if the enemy has been Skull Swing debuffed.

Skull swings helps a lot in Daily Missions tho

You’ll be surprised how squishy the boss becomes after you side swipe it with your sword.

I’m a Highlander C3 and I’m happy with my decision. I don’t really know why you feel like your damage is lacking but on my side of things, I’m totally whacking enemies because I’ve got Slash and Strike heavily covered + enemy has 0 Phys Def. You’re probably putting your stat points in the wrong places or you simply have bad gear.

Really love that feeling + archers and other swordsmen heavily benefit from that debuff of HL C3

skull swing is great for bosses, i have no idea whay would u say highlander c3 is bad, u probably doing a wrong build with stats/skills

Skyliner scales badly but then again all skills do.

Most monsters in the game are immune to bleed.

Undead
Plants
Most plate monsters

So it’s hard to get the double damage.

There’s an insane delay in the animation, same with Skull Swing and Cross Cut.

The skill got reverted back to the CBT days of being an awkward skill.

I’m thinking it was a mistake. If you look at the Korean version of Skyliner (ignore the CD) it attacks much, much faster and is a smoother use. How we have it seems broken, same with Skull Swing. It’s just super awkward to use.

I’m actually going to report it as a bug to the appropriate forums because I can understand the 0 cooldown to a degree, even though I think it cripples Highlander C3 entirely (there should be an attribute at C3 to make it 0 cooldown, this way avoiding it becoming a meme again) it’s still a solid skill.

But not as it is right now. It’s too slow.

… where did the mob/boss run away? Honestly tho, cartar needs same attribute that Archer’s multishot have (cuts charging speed in half).

if you get cartar stroke lvl 15 you’ll miss so much damage that could be done while you are charging that skill.

For most of the bosses crosscut+skyliner works well, but for some it doesn’t, you have to hope to deal enough dmg from the base skill dmg+ str and dex to crit.

But yeah, i wish we had Ktos skyliner, i want to burn my sp even faster than i do right now.

I agree, most leave it at level 3 only because of this because basically charging it up just increases the flat damage and the wait isn’t worth it.

Basically you will end up being so powerful the charge time is a waste. It will mainly be a skill you use to hit plate monsters with exclusively to deal tons of damage.

IF that was a C2 attribute for skill - you could just leave skill lv at whatever you have and simply enjoy fast charge.

For OP and the rest of you, I highly recommend checking out the topic I made about ALL highlander skills being bugged right now.

I mean ALL of them. They all have gross delays to them that seemingly have just recently appeared. They make the game feel insanely clunky and it isn’t something related to lag.

They hinder our damage potential drastically and make the class seem shitty. I provided video evidence on how the skills SHOULD work versus how they DO WORK right now.

The more attention this gets the higher chance it has of being fixed.

Hell no, with CC skills you can charge it up much longer.

Skyliner scales better than folks think because it doubles your damage on bleeders. Likewise, Cartar Stroke being at rank whatever (15 if you like it so) has never been about the damage it deals at lower ranks. It could deal 1 dmg base and it would STILL be a decent skill because it scales well.

Guys, if you haven’t noticed, Cartar Stroke is a multi-hit attack. Charging it up to 15 means it hits 15 times. While your odds of doing that are rather slim and a lower rank is better for your point expenditure, the right gear and spells buffing your individual hit damage can make Cartar Stroke do insane amounts of lethal output.

Just as an example: Equip Arde Dagger. Now use Cartar Stroke lv 15. You just added +153 fire damage to 15 attacks.

Good luck charging up a skill for 7.5 seconds and hitting. At levels 220, 5 seconds of standing still means death. Not to mention you will get knocked out of it.

In most dungeons mobs are killed in less than 10 seconds. By the time you’ve charged up your party has cleaned all the mobs.

Thank you, Captain Obvious. It’s why I advocate using rank 5 at best.

However, if you as a player for whatever reason enjoy the skill and want it at level 15, it has its benefits. Your character will simply end up like Cyan from Final Fantasy 6. Ridiculously long charge time attack that when completed will annihilate anything it touches. Party support for positioning and survival will be required naturally.

It’s not the useless skill folks think it is. It just has a very niche capability and your mileage may vary. If the only thing that mattered was the most efficient mob slaughter, we’d all be playing the same build.

Oh hell no, that’s not what I said at all. The skill is insanely powerful at all levels. It’s one of THE BEST Strike abilities for any swordie.

Cartar Stroke hits 4 times at all skill and charge levels.

I played C3 Highlander in ICBT2 up to level 120, and I honestly think you’ve built your guy wrong. Skull Swing + Vertical Slash wrecks bosses, and anything that can bleed is easy pickings. Even Cartar Stroke as low as level 3 is enough to blow away any mobs throughout the entirety of my play. Only skill I feel is underwhelming is Moulinet, but it can still clear mobs easy and does a lot of damage to armor-broken bosses.

Oh i am lvl 135 and i solo my way there with no parties besides dungeons but that is not the point. What i am trying to say the skill animations feel… lackluster for a circle 3.

I expected more… bling.
