A long while ago I was puzzled about some of the game’s elements that were shown in trailers but were subsequently removed from the CBT content. An example is the Cryomancer’s “icy tree” that showed up in Q&A #3 at the blog. I always thought it didn’t really make sense to remove a whole skill and ditch the animation, since it can easily be balanced if it proves game-breaking.
So then I watched one of Steparu’s videos, namely the one where he shows the class change from Cryomancer to Psychokino, and noticed something strange: https://youtu.be/JUn4JPLs09g?t=2m40s
There’s an additional skill listed as Ice Paster, a skill that doesn’t show up on the database at all. Since it didn’t show up (from what I could tell at least) in any of the CBT2’s videos, one could guess that it was removed. But there are two things that caught my attention. First, this skill has different frame for the icon.
Secondly, here’s a different cryomancer advancing to rank 3, on the same CBT1: http://tos.nexon.com/community/free/view.aspx?n4PageNo=8&n4ArticleSN=9165
As you can see, Ice Paster doesn’t even show up. The time difference between these two job changes was one day IIRC, so you could claim it was patched up, but I don’t think that holds up, considering Steparu could have advanced to Cryomancer and used the skill only to find it gone the following day. If it was removed because of a bug, then it would’ve shown up again at CBT2 all fixed and proper.
I would also like to quote one of Sourpuss’s posts in the Theory Crafting + Builds topic:
Also, according to the treeofsaviorgame wiki, there are some skills left unmentioned, such as this incredibly useful scout skill: Be Prepared.
So my claim is the following: There are some hidden requirements (maybe related to how you spent your skill points) that unlock new skills upon ranking up a class. This would go in hand with the hidden classes, encouraging you to experiment with different builds. Tell me what you think, maybe this sounds too far-fetched, but I’m willing to count it as a possibility.
