Hey everyone! Give me some help figuring out what/how to play

Hello to new players and my fellow RO vets alike! Lemme just say I’m super stoked to try out ToS!

Problem is, I have no idea what to play and I have a couple general questions I’d like answered in a direct way since ToS info is scattered around the net.

So, first some background: back in RO I main’d an Alchemist just because it was a rare class to see on the frontlines in WoE (around 2006 when the game peaked), so before anything else I like to be a special snowflake playing a class that isn’t seen a lot. Are there any classes like that so far in ToS?

Second, can anyone explain the stat system simply for me? What stats are used for what? Is it similar to RO where you need to build carefully or else jank your build? What are the big considerations?

Thirdly, is the control scheme still keyboard-only or have they implemented mouse-movement like RO? If not, is there a third-party way to change it? (As an aside I think keyboard-only was the biggest mistake!)

Finally what guilds are people planning/available for people who aren’t anime fans but are here to play ToS out of nostalgia for RO? Nothing against otakus but the most fun I had in RO was playing with people with general interests!

There’s an alchemist in TOS.

STR = Physical DMG, Critical ATK
INT = Magic DMG
CON = HP, HP Recovery, Weight Limit, Block rate
SPR = SP, SP Recovery, Resist
DEX = Critical Rate, Accuracy, Evasion

You can play with full keyboard, mouse + keyboard, or controller.

Alchemist is a hard crafting class unlike in RO where you can be a support/crafting/battle alchemist.

The one attack skill in the Alchemist class is CRAP, so don’t go into it thinking you’re going to be throwing bombs at enemies.

I can’t say for certain what class isn’t really used… I guess hunter because pet AI is really really bad. Rodelero is definitely not a popular choice. Yeah… Rodelero probably.

You can always check the guild section or community section of the forum, there are some guilds around there already, as for interests, as any other game, you will find different ones here, but since IMC plan to make the RP main part of the game, you might even find more interesting stuff.

If you’re going purely for a class simply seen uncommonly, there should be classes that are restricted in terms of a set number of player characters that can currently use it like Templar and Chaplain (as far as I remember at least lol).

First post in thread already explained what the stats do. Doing whatever to them can definitely probably mess up your build if your’e really aiming for something specific, but assuming iOBT adds the stat reroll item from the Korean ver., this might not be too much of a worry (tho’ i kinda wouldn’t bet on it lol)

Game is playable with keyboard, mouse and joystick, tho’ I heard certain classes are best played with one of the three over the others. (also joystick is apparently the wonkiest of the bunch?? no idea if it got any better support since iCBT2 lol)

Not too sure about guilds, but your best solution to that is to check the guild section of the forums ww

That one damage skill of the Alchemist consumes some kind of crafting material (or just a simple material) in order to activate. You can also invest into an upgrade to be able to use it without the required material (But it’ll cost you 200 coins per use if i’m not mistaken)

So yeah, it’s nice to see that crafting classes are going to need a little extra effort to hunt properly.

You can find some guilds at the guild subforum, but the limit of members per guild is pretty low.

Personally, I didn’t play RO that long (less than a week, just to try it out) since by that time i was being captive at another MMORPG.
However, like many others, I did find my way here since I love the soundtrack, and the artstyle reminds me a lot to FF Tactics.
