Help with fast casting ice wall

So I’ve played my cryo 3 sorc2 up to 200 now, and i have 9 points in ice wall… I hardly ever use it and i mean ever because first you have the cast time and then i have to flick my joystick one direction 8 times before the cast goes off (yes i know i can end it early) but that’s not what I’m looking for.

I know for a fact you can fast cast the spell making it cast all 9 sqaures in one direction by casting the spell by selecting the spell and selecting the direction you want to go in (and then something else?) I haven’t been consistently able to reproduce this effect and was wondering if someone knows the way to do this. preferably on controller

Just cast the spell. Don’t click in any direction, just cast it. The wall will form in front of you.

what if i want it to go left or right, just turn and face that way?

If you want to quick cast it, you have to target where you want it to go and use it. Like if you’re using mouse mode and you’re facing down and you want it to go up, place your mouse up and cast it.
