Help with class selection

Hello people, I wasn’t able to play the 1st cbt and I hope to get a key for the second xD but well the question is… Which class is good to start with?
I mean something with good dps without funds and solo play. for example in RO 1 I used to start with archers or mages (freeze and thunder bolt). Since I wasn’t able to play the 1st one I don’t know how are the different classes.
Sooo any advices for me? :flushed:

Everyone wants to get a key here… :expressionless:
but I do not recommend trying to play alone, find a party.
every class has a good performance since it does not take a support class … then try a warrior
(sorry for my bad english)

Most of the archer classes tend to have the easiest time to level, second would be mages/swordsman, and third would be cleric (depending on your choices of course).

Luckily, the party system is great in ToS. You will be recommended into parties depending on your level/quest as you play by the server. You can also choose to look for a party with a similar objective/level range via the party search menu.

If you still choose to solo, everything is scaled in terms of the story, so you’ll find that everything is soloable regardless of class (unless you do something like a full support build, which isn’t meant to be solo)

Well i think swordman is good for beginner because you’ll have high hp and high def. So you won’t die fast when you make some mistakes

Or you can try Archer and Wizard later because they can kite around :grinning: the CBT this time lasts for 1 month so you have much time

Cleric

No really, despite what other people say about DEEPS and such, best beginner class imo is Cleric.
Because you have Heal.

If you’re going caster route, I’d say put points mostly into SPR at start, the SPR scaling on Deprotected zone will make your attack strong enough to compete with normal physical class (and if you party with them, they’ll enjoy being able to hit hard on boss) while the extra SP regen will help you be able to maintain your skill usage. Once you have a comfortable SP regen then you can start packing up Int.

If you’re going physical route, Str/Dex will give you enough attack power to farm decently, just be sure to switch weapon as appropriate. And because you still have magic attack, ghost-type monsters doesn’t bother you (ghost armor type reduced physical damage while increase magic damage taken)
Also if you pick Priest for your early circle class you have Sacrament which turn your attack into Holy attribute, this REKT the Cathedral dungeon you’ll find at lv 40-ish (around when you hit rank 3)

Sure at the end of the day you might not be as powerful as pure damage class, but they have to care about hits from bosses, you have Heal and Safety Zone.

Well said, @rofldat. Clerics are the masters of versatility!

I’d add “play as any class that pleases you”. You can find a lot of info about skills, builds and stuff. You can find generic information for beginners, aswell. So, whatch the vids, learn about skills and make your own path(with a party).
Have fun, man.
Cheers.

Swordsman is as straightforward as it gets, plus you can sprint!. Personally, I absolutely LOVED playing swordie during iCBT1, and this is coming from someone who plays support classes almost exclusively!
Then you have Archers, almost as simple to control as swordies, but ranged! :v
Wizards have a bit of a slow start due to their regular attack having the longest animation delay (which is why you see every wizard player bunnyhopping and/or tapping the arrow keys between attacks), but if we get the latest updates you can go Pyromancer and have a great AoE in a relatively short cooldown for easy grinding.
Clerics require some patience in the very early levels, but once you get some class levels they become easy mode.

And the most important thing: Whichever class/es you end up playing, I encourage you to party up as much as possible, parties in this game work like a charm!

Choose a class you really want to play.
If you love harry potter, why not be a wizard.
You want to hit someone far away then be an archer…
If you have some kind of protector personality be a Rodelero…
You want to feel like Gokou then create a Monk.
and so on and so forth.

Ty guys for your time and explanations I’m loving this community xD. I usually play Dota 2 and the community is toxic as f… (Most people, specially Latin community in mobas suck)…
But I haven’t seen toxic people here and I like it xD
Thx to everyone

Hope not. iCBT wasn’t like that, I’ve found some nice ppl, enjoyable parties. ^^

If there is a group of people that will effort to change the community to that, it might happen. But I feel this is going to be just a chill game because of graphic style and compact gaming feeling.
Moba games are too competitive which kinda reflects to the attitude of its players.

Clerics are indeed pretty chill. All the more so if you go down the STR path.
You can do what swordsman classes do and have a decent heal and tankability on top of it.

That’s why I said solo play at first but people kept telling me to party so I guess ppl is nice or at least nicer than ppl from mobas xd

the people here can make a party to play in the game and be nice… But the random party and random people don’t care about you.
If you want some info… come to forum and post . But if you have hope and Faith… Ask to the player in front of you

The PvE in-game can become quite competitive and awkwardly full of hostility. I saw people rage in the area over the competition several times during the 1st iCBT. The game is quite fond of griefing mechanics and there is little you can do without a party in those situations. A linker for example can link enemies together but it won’t stop someone else from making use of your link. Etc.

KSing and outzoning(similar to the Moba term) are a thing. And the players have different views of how they look at their personal space in the game with only very limited numbers of channels and mobs available.

Just use the party finder or accept one of the suggested parties that should pop up here and there. It makes very little sense to try to compete solo over a leveling space against a full party. You will only get few mobs and your chances for being the one to kill the blue mobs is close to zero.
I doubt most people mean to be jerks just to cause you grief, but it’s just how the game works. You won’t get around fighting over mobs with others at certain points in the game. You also can’t just invite every person at your spot into your party since the member count is limited.

So just look through parties and see if there are parties that work at your pace and try to stick to those. It only gets more fun with more people.

Honestly… it’s super easy to find a party esp as a cleric. I also played barb in iCBT and almost every time I started walking I got party invites so often I had to turn off the feature.
When i did decide to party various times, people were talking way too much, mostly asking me a bunch of questions like how I leveled so fast…but anyways, you won’t have problems finding a party… trust me…
