Help me with my paladin build!

Heyo, please throw in some advice for this build, and don’t just say IT SUCKS DO SOMETHING ELSE, watcha think? How should I do mah stats?
:x

I was thinking of being offtank/support thing with some “decent” attack, I think it’ll work, and it should be aight for PvP later as well.

I’ll be using Ledas shield + Valia for a good amount of time.

I was thinking 1:3:1 str con spr

50-80ish spirit then just go 1:1 with str con all teh way maybe?

Edit: The lack of responces makes me sad ):

Surprised not even one person bothered replying, hopefully I’ll get to see some thoughts about this when I wake up.

My pally is planned for C1>Pr2>Pa3
I went with a melee focused build aiming at 200dex 50con and rest in str.
I didn’t add spr because none of the skills I will be using scales off it (heals etc) and SP is no concern later on in the game because alchemist potions are OP and Pally’s restoration attribute helps alot early game.

Thanks for the reply. :open_mouth: Checked my phone before sleep and the reason why I want some spirit is only because of barrier, getting more magic defense within that circle will be really nice for some bosses.

Any thoughts on my choice of skills taken from the classes I picked?
I’m not 100% sure about Kabbalist but I believe those are teh best ones.

It’s hard to say what the r7 should be since Pal3 is such a complete class at that point. You could go Witch Doctor or Pardoner or even Dievdirbys and still come out ok.

Statwise, you’re looking at either a STR or DEX build supported by some CON

I’d kill the idea of being a tank though - no taunts and all. Think of Paladin more as a Battle Priest.

Well, I was thinking more of a offtank initiater with good support capabilities.
7thfold revenge from kabbalist would help me keep aggro from spellcasters / ranged without having to worry about getting them grouped up, so archers etc would stay away from the squishiest of things, right?

And I already know people hate mages in general so wouldn’t a paladin tank be an interesting concept if you got it to work, taunt or no taunt?

PS: Offtank, never maintank unless. . iuno, dungeons, lul.

EDIT:

Aight, so I just now realised that 7thfold revenge actually doesn’t proc on more than just one attack, meaning that i’d have to go something else for 7th, kabbalist doesn’t seem to provide with enough compared to what others could give me…

So I think I’ll do pardoner instead of kabbalist for 7th to get the additional magic defense and the option of selling barrier I guess.
None of the other optinos seemed all that interesting.

Can I give you some suggestions about your skills?
You could drop a point from Cure and add it to Fade, it’s a useful skill to reduce aggro from you and your party (and it has some utility in pvp too, I never tested it myself but you can find some information around here). And if I were you I would max Smite!

Btw, why you didn’t get Resurrection?

Max smite always on paladin!

Is it really necessary to have a point in Resurrection for the endgame? :s feels like I’m wasting a point. D:

But I guess I could move a point into it just for being safe…
Edit: also, if I wanted to add 5 points in smite I’d have to remove points from the elemental resistance and that just doesn’t feel worth it.

Hm, I see. Well, it’s true that during the game people will usually use TP to resurrect but be aware that this will not be possible in content like Earth Tower (and maybe others that may be added in the future) and Resurrection can be nice to have if you are going for a Priest C1 anyway :). You also mentioned you like pvp? I don’t think Paladin is the best option for that, but if you go pvp it will be good having Resurrection 5.

I presume you added points to Monstrance for its debuffs against enemies? As far as I know if you want it for the DEX increase 1 point should be enough.

Yeah I went it for the debuff since this is mostly just offtanksupport’ish kinda thing, but I guess I might as well switch my points around, gimme a sec and i’ll edit the top build to the more current one since I’m dumping kabbalist.

Edit: There, I’ve updated my first post and made it public, watcha think? :open_mouth:

I don’t really think you need SPR at all for this build. I’d understand if you were going for Priest c3 or Krivis but with just Barrier scaling, it’s a waste of points.
Anyways, I think your skill build is pretty good. I’d just put a point into Fade bc it has many uses in both pve and pvp, just gotta move 1 point from SafetyZone to Fade.

Since you’re the 2nd person to say that I’ll do so, might as well listen to the majority. :stuck_out_tongue:
But is SPR really a waste though? I mean it’s not a whole lot of points, we’re talking like 40 points invested in the stat just for some extra scaling from both pardoner and barrier?

Well, you can think that by getting 40 points on SPR,you’re losing out on 4K HP for 40MDef xD

Mmm… that is def true, but I’ve already invested the spirit and I guess once 280 if I actually last that long with this I’ll prob have to invest in a stat reset then, we’ll see how much of a differ the SPR gives.

I agree about what Iago said regarding your SPR, but don’t worry about it if you already spent the points. I’m sure they will sell stats reset for TP (or give it in some kind of deal) in the future.

And I really think you should consider getting Smite 15, you could maybe drop 5 from Restoration?

Hmm, ebfore I agree to that how exactly does restoration work?

+, as a side note, to do that I’d have to buy a skill reset as well

I don’t think you need level 5 cure as it won’t do that much damage later on since you are melee build, deprotected zone is a pretty good debuff. Get lv1 Monstrance, it’s my favourite buff for the priest line as it adds alot of Dex for you and the party (leveling it up does not increase this so level 1 is fine). Drop 4 points from barrier and 1 point from restoration and add it to smite. You don’t really need the mdef from barrier since you have max level resist elements and you are going increase magic defense in pardoner; you use barrier just for the “barrier” portion anyways. I would also decrease a level from increase magic defense and get lv1 Indulgentia because it is a party wide lv2 CC cure which is awesome.

That sounds like really good stuff. :open_mouth: But this is allbased on the idea that i can afford a skill reset. XD can those even be sold at market later?

I have a legit question, why is NO ONE going Cleric 2? Every cleric I see tends to go priest or just some kinda dps thing, I’d love a reply as to why Cleric 2 seems to be a poor chocie of the majority of players. o_o
