not really, cata has a full set of pvp skills.
steed charge -> knockdown
earth wave -> AoE knockdown
doom spike -> knockdown
rush -> cc/damage
trot -> movement speed and i think in a later patch cc resistance
impaler -> cc
combined with bash this is almost if not already enough for a constant knockdown chain.
yesterday i had a duel with a cleric and i put her almost in a complete knockdown chain. i opened with impaler, then i did earthwave which did a knock down then did bash a couple of times which knocks down again, and then did steed charge which again knocked down poke a couple of times bash again, then did earth wave lol
I’m only c1 but can pretty much chain knockdowns already. but the other key which makes cata so good is the movement speed bonus from trot and the mount.
mount gives you +4 movement speed, and then trot gives you +20 movement speed. with that you’ll have +24 movement speed. considering that base movement speed is 30 you can pretty much move at twice the speed of others, which means it’s pretty hard to get kited. when i was on my hop c3 i got kited all day long by mages and archers.
but in order to complete this PvP build you’re gonna want sw2 or sw3 which will give you restrain because that will give you stun chance at 30% or 60%, and also when the stun hits the target will move at reduces speed (-12 movement speed) which means you won’t be able to really kite the cata.
Doom Spike and Rush are great skills too especially rush cuz when you hit people with that restrain will proc for sure and you will deal 30 hits and when they get hit they can’t really move since it will kinda stagger them so its basically gg, can’t wait for c2 and c3.
personally i went sw2 -> pelt cuz i wanted guardian for evasion, and ability to guard with shield and ability to use taunt but sw3 is more popular build for pure PvP.
anyways…against mages is still generally uphill struggle thats why we want to cc into lancer since it seems like it’s anti-magic.
edit: forgot most important point, you can use/charge cata skills while moving.
