Hello, wise and experienced people. I need some help with choosing a build path for a rodelero. It doesn’t have to be the optimal build, but it has to be viable. So, here is the background and reasoning (TL;DR at the end).
I’m trying to build a PVE sword and shield rodelero that is more focused on offense rather than the traditional pure tank. That is not to say I will never tank or that I want to be #1 DPS, as my aim is to have a more balanced character with good CC (plus, rodelero looks like fun). Also, due to time constraints, I play mostly solo.
I can figure out the skills and stats all right, but I don’t really know what classes would better complement rodelero, especially at endgame.
On one hand, I could follow the standard peltasta 3 -> rodelero 3 route (and murmillo once rank 8 comes around), though I’m not sure how much peltasta 3 would contribute to the overall build. Sure, it would give me swashbuckling, but I don’t want to be a pure tank, and the shield attacks don’t seem all that useful (can’t really say anything about butterfly or umbo thrust as I’ve never had those).
Another option would be to follow a highlander 3 -> rodelero 3 -> murmillo route. I’d trade the tanking capability of peltasta for better offensive options, better slash skills, cartar stroke as a good strike skill (just buffed on ktos!), skull swing instead of umbo thrust for the armor debuff and (buffed!) vertical slash (as soon as it gets over here). I’d also lose the murmillo enhanced peltasta skills.
And that is why I’d like some experienced input on those build options. I think I have a preety good view of pros and cons already, but as I don’t have any experience with rodelero or with anything past level 80, I guess I just need some opinions on how well they would fare (as I am aware of swordy troubles at high levels).
TL;DR: What would be the best build for a PVE offensive oriented/off-tank rodelero? Peltasta 3 -> rodelero 3 -> (murmillo) or highlander 3 -> rodelero 3 -> (murmillo).
