Having problems since i swaped to controller, help! :)

Hello everyone! Iv been having an annoying issue ever since i swapped to controller and i was hoping one of you might know whats wrong or any ideas how to fix it :slight_smile:

Today i swapped to controller, just or you normal ps3 type usb gamepad, the controller itself works just fine, everything is configured just fine.

My problem is this…

After a little while of play time my controller stops responding as if i just tabbed out of the game, if i clike on my screen then it works again just fine, if i hover over my spells the tool tip wont show up, so pretty much its like im tabbed without actually tabbing, the game itself is still running just fine.

Any ideas on what it might be? it keeps happening and its getting quite annoying having to click on my screen once in a while to get everything to work again.

Any help would be apreciated :slight_smile:

See if additional software is running to get your controller to work. I’m still ironing out the details, but it seems that steam has some sort of controller driver that tries to run in conflict with the windows one. I’ll test more when I get home, but you could try to look under the options in steam and see if there is an option to uncheck/check.

its hard to explain since all that seems to happen is the game being alt tabbed to nothing.

Im using the steam controller config to remap a couple of buttons to match the UI.

My controller isnt anything special, its a logitech ps3 usb controller, dosent come with software or anything.

Just odd that it started happening wen i swapped to controller.
Its doing my nutt in trying to fix the random “alt tab” to nothing…

Did you try to use the controller on “auto” mode?

I have tried it, everything is working just fine, the problem is that i randomly get tabbed out of the game into nothing and i have no idea why, the only reason i think its related to the controller is because it started wen i swapped to controller.

this is very odd like i said and i have no idea why its happening, but its rather annoying :frowning:

The problem with generic cheap controllers of controllers is they remap esc, letter keys and other such keys that can have wielded interactions if they are not completely overwritten or replaced at times. I remember having that problem with the cheap Logitech controllers

Anything you suggest for me to fix it? other then getting a new controller?

And iv gone back to keyboard, its been working just fine, swapped to controller and happened again, so it is a controller problem, just randomly tabbs me out to nothing, the game is still running just fine but the windows task bar showing, tab back in and everything is just fine till it happens again.

I went to a PS4 Bluetooth controller and didn’t look back. A Xbox 360 controller works well too, whichever your preference is.

When that happens, do the keyboard controls work?

I have the same problem as well.
It seems to be a new feature that got added to the game about a week or two ago.

I got problem with controller cable pull out/dc then vga error, anyone else got that?

Sorry iv been away from the forums for a bit.

I had this issue solved, well, it just kinda stopped happening.
I changed my anti virus from AVG to AVAST thinking that was the problem.
Thats all i did but it seems to have fixed it, my controller works just fine now, no issues what so ever, was able to change my keybinds on steam and make it save.

So it was either AVG causing problems or i have no idea, like a said before it was a very odd problem.
