Has anyone considered or used cloth armor for their swordie builds for the late game?

I ask because i’m in the process of planning out my next swordie(Swordsman>Peltasta2>Rodelero3>Shinobi>Murmillo High CON build) and was thinking of investing in SPR and Cloth armor mastery to deal with magic mobs esp. during the late game. anyone ever tested this or have insights about why this is a good/bad idea?

Do not invest in SPR. The returns for magic defense are AWFUL. 1 magic defense for every 5 points of SPR, I believe. Just go full CON if you want to be as tanky as possible.

Superior Korvos Greaves can give you a big chunk of magic defense only sacrificing a bit of defense and maintaining the benefits of full plate set. Nuaele cards can give you +10% magic defense each. You can’t obtain them anymore from story quests, but I believe she’s a level 330 World Boss so you can farm them in R8.

Plus you already have STR,CON and DEX to worry about.The trade off [that isn’t even worth it] isn’t worth denting what you could be getting out of the other three.

Grynas plate set provides some m.def too. As for accessories, at the moment we can do 2 x glass bracelets or the rhevisan set.

Thanks everyone, I have a Nuaele Card from before they stopped giving them out from quests, i’ll save that for my Murmillo then. About cloth armor and mastery, the return on investment is not worth it as well?

No. You get 15% damage reduction with plate mastery

The ratio of MDEF it takes to counter higher level monster’s MATK values is pretty gross that you’ll prolly never even come close to what you need anyways off straight gear and SPR.

inb4 315 equips shield give +400 mdef

while 315 armors are still unknown, probably they’ll be around 200-250mdef

well, sometimes i used 4 cloth set, it depend on what map you are grinding.
plate gives you 15% reduction to phys damage.
cloth gives you 15% reduction to magic damage.
all my armor attributes are maxed. (lv50)

there is a shield that gives like 440 MDEF, but noone has it yet I think since item level is like over 400.
