Hardly been able to play for a week, tech help?

This is frustrating, please help me.

plain and simple, please tell me how to get through this. After updating, it will update again.

After last weeks 24 hour maint, coming home to there being another maint the next night for 7 hours (that wasn’t even compensated and I’m being told basically didn’t happen in tickets), this for several days, fixed for a few days by itself, 24 hour maint, and now this again.

I don’t know what to do.

I really wanted to reach r7 before F2P and it’s hilarious how difficult this game is making things, like really.
Anyway.

I launch game.
That comes up.
Game disappears.
I have to task manager end the game.
Repeat.

I’ve reinstalled 6 times
Restarted comp 10
Added permissions, hell even turned off all antiviruses and firewalls
I cleared up 20GB (My comp is like 80GB so I don’t have much leeway)

What do I do

Post your specs pls.

Garbage comp I bought for less then 200

uhhhh

i don’t know anything about computers

Have you updated your graphics driver?

I don’t intend to make you sound dumb, but to help we will need to know everything, so… did you launch the game through steam? When you do, does the “Do you want to allow this app to make changes and the asdfs” pop up and you say “yes”? Does the patcher show or does that window show before the patcher?

uh i tried to said was latest

sorry, when i launch, the tos patcher comes up. It then updates the game through a seperate window, and then the message appears. I tried launching both from game and shortcut several times

So you do launch it through steam, correct? Like go into the steam library and hit “Play”? Just want to make sure

Yes, that’s actually how i often run

Wasn’t this an old issue, and there was a post about it?
Delete some file in some directory somewhere?

I might be wrong, but I get the feeling your patcher doesn’t get the permissions to make the changes in the files it needs to…

The file you tried open direct is this:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TreeOfSavior\release\patch\tos.exe ?

Even won’t work with Run As Admin, right?

Yeah, ifyou read the OP, I had this for about 4 days and then it went away.

I actually don’t remember how

And uh I reinstalled it like 5 times or more

@Mystio one of the solutions is an issue with admin permissions
Can you check if you have the file ‘tos.exe.temp’?

There’s a lot of alternative solutions from user’s replies, like file integrity check and running updater manually as admin instead of from steam.
Mind poking around?

I have just tried Run as Admin, this did not work

As you can see in previous post, I do

I’m going to try switching them now

Try to delete tos.exe

Rename tos.exe.temp -> tos.exe

Try to delete(or move elsewhere or rename) Tos.exe, rename Tos.exe.temp to Tos.exe, launch it as administrator.

Yeah, I just did that, it seemed to have worked.

Thank you, I greatly apologize that I did not stumble upon that post previously, I swear I did check.

Thank you for your time and patience a lot guys, now I know what to do next time because last time it just magically fixed itself. Thanks again, I can’t say this enough

Np, the only reason I know is because somehow I came across that post randomly and remembered it.
I had that problem and it magically disappeared too.

Basically what happened is the launcher tries to override tos.exe with tos.exe.temp but derped and hence…
