Wrong forums for this, but you’ll probably find nothing too good at this point.
(You started with AnoHana, basically starting at the top)

If you’re still interested, go ahead and google ‘Tragedy Anime’.
They’ll be just as good as anything anyone shares here.
(and worse, depending on your personal standards)

edit : If you’re just looking for everything that ends in tragedy, you should know that most of those anime with the comedy-drama pattern genre of every season tends to have some obligatory tragedy section.
Comedy power-teen anime, daily-life comedy-drama, romance comedy-drama, etc.
It’s an already-generic standard in anime and is about as commonplace as you can get.
This season’s Charlotte is slightly unusual, I’ll credit that.

Depends how far back in the past you’re ready to go… or what you already watched…
I think these are more or less close to what you’re looking for :

  • ef - tales of melodies"(/memories)
  • One week friends
  • Tasogare Otome x Amnesia
  • True tears
  • Toradora
  • Sword art online (Yuuki arc)
I think these are a bit more on the romantic side than the tear jerking side…
It’s hard to beat Shigatsu and AnoHana though…

Try School Days. Pretty generic at start but it has nice development and also a tragedy.

good one =p

yea, this song :

I see Air missing from that list (The TV series + OVA). I still can’t persuade myself to rewatch that.
Kanon was kinda similar (the kyoani version), same for angel beats. But that’s to be expected, all of them being by Key.

Spice and Wolf 1 and 2
[/quote]It’s not really the same type as anohana/shigatsu/clannad, though. Also, some people might be turned off by all the trading stuff. Personally, I liked that one, though and I’m also following the books.

Then watch Rizelmine! It’s comedy-romance drama, I hope you’ll like it! And… watch Boku no pico after finished that anime I mencioned. Please You don’t need to see any description on Boku no pico! cuz a spoiler. ok;;; Cya~~

Feels you say? watch Mahou Shoujo Madoka.

…really? -_-

Plastic Memories was a rough ride, but the ending of this anime sealed the deal in terms of emotions.

It’s hard to find a ‘feels’ anime right now. We shall see what happens.

You can try any of anime adaptation of Jun Maeda (the writer behind Angel Beats)

The latest one is Charlotte.

“They told me I can become anything, so I became pizza sauce”
._ . sadly I lol’d at that particular ‘joke’

I see we have a villain in our midst…

Oh i see what you did there… XD… No way sir, Boku no Pico is suicide… oh well ill try watchin the Rizelmine… as you suggested…arigatou

I watched charlotte… and is excited on it’s ending… this coming sunday… yepey… I’ll look it up… Jun Maeda’s works…

That’s a lot of list… great references… ive already watched tora dora, true tears(halfway but stopped), Sword art online, One week friends(great story),… otome x amnesia and ef-tales of melodies(i have seen the trailer and looks great) ill try both and choose where to watch 1st…

Sakamichi no apollon was once on my list… but amazing forgot about it… XD thanks for reminding me about it… and also spice and wolf(to try)… Lovely Complex(tried one episode but decided to watch it later because i decided to find more source/suggestions)… thx

Absolutely… Charlotte was not your typical school-life supernatural anime… well as for the tragedy anime… when i tried to google it… there was a lot on the list… and kinda hard to choose from it… anyway, thx for suggestion… ill definitely choose from the tragedy animes… and yeah you are corrects… ano hana is basically also my top… so it is kinda hard to find something that can match it… that is why i am trying to find suggestion… if can’t top anohana…at least the same lvl as ano hana…

wow, those are some very specific choices of anime, but good ones nonetheless.

I have to agree with UsaraDark on this ones. It’s hard to find anime that can emotionally touch you these days, although to be fair, I don’t really watch much drama/romance anime but I do if it involve a lot of comedy. Not many anime are willing kill off character that have a lot of time invested in them, have the main char go through a physiological breakdown, or of any sort tragic occurrences. It’s also hard to create emotional scenes through the use of happy events without something depressing happening.

Your best bet is to look for older anime. The one I would have recommended, have been recommended by others already.
