Guide to Fencer / Doppel / Bullet Marker [PVE]

Fencer C2 Right now is a bad circle because you can only boost sept etoiles with preparation and have a SP hungry consistent pierce attack

Cor 2 + Fencer
or
Doppel + Fencer

offers more, but that means you already forfeit getting Fencer C3 or Doppel C3 as soon as possible if they provide good skill sets

and to answer your question, yes it’s worth, but with the problem stated above

Fencer C3 is pretty much Schrodingger’s cat. You can’t know if that class will have good skill or not.

Btw, Katana =/= Rapier

I don’t see anyone talking about katanas here though

Don’t lie, it’s you Lostac. I bet you played Doppel 2 too while yelling “Juggggernaut”

This made me LOL. I’m still reading, but I like your style so far. I actually came to this forum to ask about being a fencer vs being a rogue. If I still have questions I’ll edit this post.

Fencers are dying really, or swordsman classes in general. You see less of them every week.

even highlander c3s are dying

Maybe you just seeing less and less swordies in general. Can’t imagine Fencers were ever that popular. I’ve seen like 1 on Fedimian. Doppel just seems better, even on paper. Let alone some other swordies variations.

The Swordsman population in Taltasia seems to be growing. I find it to be Wizards, most specifically Elememes and Cryo variants, that seem to be dying down.

While there is a lack of fencers the class has got attractive things
0 CD double-hit Pierce and Slash skills when Cloth and Leather are the most common enemy types in the game is fairly attractive for a class that doesn’t need to intrinsically get its face punched in to do its damage unlike Doppel.

if you mean telsiai, I don’t really see swordsman classes too much anymore. even parties are having a hard time looking for pelt

but hey, I got 3 swordies atm myself not counting the hoplites i deleted

Thank you. I’m finally sure on going Cor btw.

There is one thing that bothers me though. If we get Ktos patch I will be jealous of Highlander’s 0cd skyliner. :frowning:

I have a highlander c3 myself waiting for it, then i’ll decide if it’s going to be another fencer or doppel.

nice. Don’t forget to update us please

that’s true, but I did ask a few fencer friends on why they rerolled, it’s only because of AOE ratio.

You now have the problem of getting gladiator bands/headgear enchants along with attributes. No one wants to be hitting 2-3 mobs while grinding really

gladiator bands are 10m+ each on telsiai and cerberus dies in 10-20 seconds

imo even cor2>dop does better if you want a slash/pierce mix

Hello,

1- Should i go barbarian or highlander ? ( If skyliner get 0cd then highlander > Barbarian ? )

2- is Corsair 2 really usefull ? Hexen Dropper add a lot more damage ?

I would say yes but remember, not all enemies can bleed, and highlanders face the same problem as fencers, lacking in aoe ratio outside of cartar stroke.

So AOE wise barb is still a good idea, and with ktos buffs warcry cooldown is a LOT lower, so I can’t really tell unless I’ve tried actual ktos versions of them

Yes, Hexen is better than Sept etoiles with 2 charges, just remember that you forfeit getting fencer 3 asap if you take cor2 and fencer c3 interests you when it comes out.

Yeah so corsair 2 is a huge trade … I will wait and see the rank 8.

Thank for your answer !

I’ll say it’s not worth it then. I think going fencer 1 without going fencer 2 unless you have bad ping sucks. Double earn pay is pretty cool and mordschlag is fun to use but from a combat perspective they don’t do much so I’ll focus on exactly what you said – deeds of valor and cyclone.

I hate cyclone. I think it’s a bad skill. The cooldown is very long, and if you get pushed back ever so slightly the skill gets completely cancelled. I quit doppel->dragoon for fencer 2 mostly because of my frustration with cyclone (and other skill) cancels.

I’d say this kind of decision heavily depends on your stat choice as well. I don’t remember if a dodge gives deeds of valor stacks, but if it doesn’t then deeds of valor will be, well, pretty hard to stack. However, if you are a high str build then you’re much more vulnerable to cyclone getting cancelled. And if you aren’t full strength, you won’t benefit from deeds of valor as much. I think these two skills conflict with each other with that being said.

Typically, your max damage will be relatively low as a fencer due to you (eventually) using a venier. This will in an end game scenario put you at somewhere around 700 max with a dex build and 1-1.1k max with a strength build. This is around +350 max for the dex build, and +500 for the strength build with max deeds of valor.

But is that much max worth it? The attack speed really doesn’t serve much purpose for fencer due to 0 cd skills, so I won’t bother with that. -50% def is actually a LOT and should be conisdered as well. There’s something weird going on with def vs monsters, and it’s not as simple as gaining 1 def = getting hit by 1 damage less. Again, mitigated with a high dex build, but then deeds of valor serves even less of a purpose if you go that route.

So how much dps does 350-500 max actually provide? Well, this is one reason why I favor dex over strength, because it isn’t much.

This is an end game (my) DPS calculation for some skill with no attribute:

Let’s add +350 max.

That’s somewhere around an 8% increase for however many seconds you have left after charging deeds of valor to max stacks with a 43 second cooldown and 23 second duration before you start getting stacks. It just doesn’t do much (especially for fencers).

So with fencer 2 you get attaque composee and preparation.

Preparation is alright. Honestly, I don’t like it very much because its uptime has weird synergy with the only skill it matters for - sept. However, it’s still an actual +50% damage increase.

Attaque Composee is an amazing skill. You just have to be able to take advantage of it. If you have good ping, it’s like having a skill that hits almost as fast as stabbing, but is twice as strong and has no cooldown.

Composee benefits from rapier aggression, so off the bat it has +15% damage at all times unless you use a shield. It also executes almost TWICE AS FAST as flanconnade.

SP consumption has never been an issue for me with this skill at level 5 (well, 7 with venier). SP can absolutely be managed while using 0 cd skills infinitely or almost infinitely. I don’t understand how some fencers can’t do this. The first step is to use the lv 10 alchemy potions. This shouldn’t be an issue because (well, in my server) the prices are always going down. Even when they were costly (1.3k? per potion) they’re still extremely worth it compared to the highest NPC pot which is a total ripoff.

*Things might change when we get the boss card system if you can use it to get 100% uptime with pain barrier

0 CD skyliner would be glorious. Ima hold up spending silver on attributes in hopes that can be here so I can just roll a new fencer with the build I prefer.
