Great. Mine just reached Fencer 2 a few days ago. How long does it take to reach R8?

If you start grind now maybe tomorrow you hit 280 lvl (if you burn tons of 300% exp book and all dumplings you have with meta-grind-party).

I don’t like hoplites, in fact I am very salty with it because that was my first fencer put to waste lol

it’s okay but you have to do some switching several times just for spear lunge, you can edit some game files to enable auto switching but I refuse to do so.

Coquille > Switch Spear > Spear Lunge > Switch Rapier > Epee Garde > Prep > Stabbing

Hoplite 1 builds work though, but you only get stabbing and pierce which are OK but fencer already provides several pierce kits for you to work with

I was once a highlander fanboy because the skill animations are awesome. that kinda changed when I played barb again lol

I think those builds are worth including:

Sword1>High2>Pelt1>Cors1>Fencer3
Sword3>Pelt1>Cors1>Fencer3

The Highlander3 variants (Pelt1>High3, High3>Cors1 and High3>Barb1) received a huge blow when Epee Garde revealed itself Pierce-only.

Some Hoplite1 variant would be nice to see too.

Also, a commented section of “renegade” builds such as the ones without Peltasta or with Hoplite2/3 would be nice purely to answer the many doubts new players may have.

Tbh, I have real money to burn but so little time to play. Hopefully I can reach r8 in a week

@Lostac: Here’s my HL2>Corsair feedback (I’m 224 atm)

This build has great Slash burst against Cloth and Plate till 220. Skyliner + Bleed will deal over 40k not counting most Bleed damage. And Catar Stroke can easily deal a minimum of 12k non-crit per overheat to Plate armor. But that’s almost everything HL2 can offer. Composee can render those damage skills redundant
HL2 skills have awkward and rather small hitbox except Catar Stroke. It is hard to land those bursts at magic mobs since they usually stand far away from each other. It’s always better to spam Composee thanks to its longer reach
Dust Devils and Hook are the only form of CC this build has. Not as good as Barb’s stun. Gosh, I hate magic mobs.

TL;DR, I believe you already know it. HL2 variant has great damage but offer little utility. I have no idea how to compare it with Barb 2 variant. Nevertheless, I can tell HL2 has greater damage from its skill rotation than Barb 2 (not counting lv5 Warcry).

Btw, have you played any Hop1 variant? I do have a Hop1>Barb and it feels even better than my HL2>Corsair

Yeah, one of my fencer experiments include HL2>Hop2, don’t do it unless you want to play the switch mania game.

I was greedy before trying to do crossguard+spear lunge into fencer combo, but never again.

I have been playing switch mania for nearly 10 years thanks to RO.

Try the Hop1>Barb. This build feels somehow spectacular and by far the best I have ever played

I don’t think I’ll like it, the way I am now and what I’m doing daily is always leaning to more pain barrier to do more dps.

also, RO’s switch mania isn’t painfully stupid as it is on TOS

Either Barb 2, Corsair or even Sword 2. Or for maximum lulz, get Sw3>Pelt>Hop (guaranteed to reroll after R7).

Also, you need to carry like 4 different spears for each type of mobs in a map. And break your keyboard trying to spam more than 3 Bowling Bash under a sec

With so many updates tomorrow, seems now rerolling a scout3 isn’t needed anymore because of op spear throw. And levelling a char to rank 5 is very easy.
