You dont always have someone ready to freeze stuff for you. And that’s moot on bosses since well, you cant freeze them.
Targe also has (or well, I should say had for kToS) a longer cooldown than Bash.
Either way, you should really have both at level 10. Along with Montano.
The level 1 on Shoving is only so you can abuse its overheat while Kick/Slithering are up to still at least have your Patk do all the work without caring about the skill attack, during boss fights. The slight push before the turn-around effect on normal mobs is really frustrating so it’s not for mobbing really.
I’d still max targe smash over montano. And get 1 point in shield charge for knockback. Also not sure if High Kick worth more than 1 level. It’s damage is still low and no overheat. And it won’t boost itself. So I’d rather invest in other skills.
I’m thinking about pelt2rode3dragoon or pelt2rode3fencer. For PvE I’d probably pick Dragoon or even Doppel, but Fencer is so good duelist.
This is my PvP+PvE Rode3Fencer build, but full PvE is not much different, mostly it’s just Dragoon over Fencer and some skill adjustments.
Build is DEX heavy in all 3 variants.
It’s best to use with Cryo3 and monk in party, as former can use lethargy+freeze for insane strike damage. Also with recent kToS monk buffs it’d be even more strike damage.
Can squires repair/buff their own gear? Can they repair/buff their own gear in dungeons or only outside of dungeons?
I went with all rounder stat build and hoplite 2 > corsair 2. Thinking of going squire instead of dragoon for the last circle so I can repair my own gear because it’s so expensive XD (and to make a little silver). How bad of an idea would this be, would I be losing out on way too much damage?
I’m trying to set up a fencer build similar to @Ravin and I’m feeling pretty indecisive. I’m 100% sure on the Peltasta and Fencer.
Swordsman
Peltasta
???
???
???
Fencer
???
My goals are:
PvE, always with a party
AoE > Single Target
Tanking, CC, Support > Damage
Not worried about feeling weak while leveling, want skills that don’t fall off later.
So with 4 circles to choose, I’m looking at:
0-2 circles of Corsair (I like Jolly Roger, leaning towards 2 circles of this)
2-3 circles of Barbarian (or Highlander or Rodelero if they fit my needs better)
2nd circle of Fencer (is this really much better than the 1st circle?)
2nd circle of Peltasta (maybe)
Right now I’m leaning towards Barbarian 2, Corsair 2. Any thoughts on how the other options would work out for me?
Yea I pretty much regret taking Highlander thinking is more to “Damage type” classes because of the Cartar Stroke which doesn’t deal much damage mid/end game already. Should have took Peltasta instead and continue on with the Barbarian (Spear + Shield for the taunt and then switch back to 2H sword for Barbarian) Now i am almost rank 6 and it’s too late to re-roll. Luckily for me I have friends playing different classes so we always partied together to do missions, dungeons and quests. Else…most people would not consider inviting Barbarian without Peltasta class…now I feel really useless =(
Btw, how does DOV calculates? 50% from base attack without buffs or 50% additional including damage from buffs as well?
I think it’s Shinoa Hiragi from Ovari no Seraph) Watched only the first season and was quite disappointed, honestly.
This particular character was one of the few that I liked. But overall the anime felt a bit too unnatural, starting with dialogues and finishing with the plot in total.
Wasn’t able to watch the second season after that, but maybe it was better.
Also ToSBase has incorrect numbers somewhere. Concentrate currently has 2 stacks per level (30 on level 15) and on ToSbase it’s different. Damage is also slightly different.
And one guy I know tested level 15 concentrate and he had 36 hits, it seems. Maybe he mistaken somewhere but it seems listed value is also lying.
Maybe some other skills got ninja nerfed/buffed as well.
If you want Evasion then mainly DEX, otherwise mainly STR. Usually for Fencers it is DEX.
If you REALLY want Peltasta without having you make another character, then your best bet is to get Fencer->Peltasta. You are going to lose a little bit of extra damage potential, but at least you will get the utility you seek on this same character.
Besides changing the order by getting Fencer first, I also suggest:
Esquive Toucher overall isn’t a very good skill because it’s animaltion is long and the evasion buff only lasts for half a second. You are better getting Sept Etoiles as max as you can if not max it (you could take a point or two from Flanconnade to do this).
That is pretty close to the result, the only missing part are the bonus points but I wouldn’t worry too much about it. There is no “perfect” stat allocation, so you can put those into DEX, STR or even CON.
Maybe get STR to 100 or get DEX to 120 or CON to 235~ or so.
Unfortunately I don’t have the exact number of bonus points. But don’t worry too much about them, just get to your targets numbers and the points that are left over you can put into the stat you prefer.
I would say that any build goes with it, so pick the one you like best. There are many to pick from.
If you want an auto-attacking class as well, then Hoplite could be your choice.
Yeah, unfortunately it resets the stacks. I don’t have a visual confirmation to post in here but I hope that someone that is Doppel C2 can provide it for us.
I still think it is worth to go past level 5 because of the increased duration and Physical Attack bonus, but it is now based around preference. It is still pretty easy to stack in party content because taunting a group of mobs gives you almost instant stacks and with a healer with you there is no worry about doing with with magical mobs.
It shouldn’t be like that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that is how it acts right now as some new bugs appear every here and there.
Not really. Repairs do have lower durability but it doesn’t make taking Squire mandatory. And Weapon Maintenance doesn’t hold up well at higher levels.
Kinda. Corsair doesn’t really get it’s damage until C2, but C1 gives you utility with Iron Hook and Jolly Roger, plus an extra soft CC with Dust Devil.
Uh, there are a few to pick from. But I guess Hoplite C2->Corsair C2->Dragoon or Doppelsoeldner C1.
It is not going to fall off, you have a pretty solid build. You will lack AoE at higher levels though, at least compared to builds that have Cyclone in them.
Always.
High DEX or All-Around with a priority in DEX. Unless you are not interested on evasion at all, then you could do a STR/CON type of build.
Plate.
Also, you should lower the level on Dust Devil and use those points instead to get Iron Hook at a higher level, mainly because the damage scaling of Dust Devil is pretty low.
For Rank 8 it is difficult to tell, you most likely will want to get one of the new classes but if nothing is appealing enough then picking Doppel C1 is always an option.
Aias is pretty much your end-game shield.
And other than that, there is not much you can do against magic damage since defense mechanism through stats in this game are pretty bad in general. So don’t worry too much about it, but if you feel the need to then add more points into CON to feel safer.
Past level 220+ it is all about grinding in parties.
I can’t deny that it will be easier for you to find parties with Peltasta, but I don’t think it is as mandatory to say that you won’t find a party without it.
So I would say to hold on until you have to choose your rank 7 to evaluate if you really want it or not without rerolling.
The skill is maxed at level 5 if the build stays at C2 anyways, because there is not much else to put points into.
But at C3 it really depends. I could see a case for maxing it, but also one for not doing it. I think either way is fine as there is no “perfect” way for this.
For example, some people like to have High Kick at level 5, while others like me prefer to leave it at 1 for utility, etc.
Sure, it would work. But I think a Cataphract build would be better because it is better rounded at earlier stages, while the Hoplite C3->Doppel would gets complemented with the Dragoon skills.
Yes they can and they can also repair in dungeons.
Mmm, you would be losing quite a bunch of damage for almost nothing gained. At higher levels you make more money so it is not something that you should worry too much about.
I think it is better to get Squire at higher circles so your skills are better and you can compete against those other Squires selling theirs too.
I would advise against it, but only you know what will be best for you. So as long as you understand the advantages and disadvantages, then you have everything to take the right choice for your character.
Alright, so PvE: Peltasta covers this already.
For AoE at higher levels you will have to pick Doppelsoeldner which gives you Cyclone, leaving you with no option to pick Corsair C2. Unless you are willing to sacrifice that for more single target / small groups combat.
And since you are interested on Corsair, then you could easily fill it on your 5th rank by only picking one circle of it for Iron Hook, Jolly Roger and Dust Devil. Resulting on something like this:
Only Rank 3 and 4 are left to fill, but there are not too many options:
Barbarian C2: The classic damage route, which also gives you stuns and the possibility to increase your physical attack through Frenzy / War Cry.
You can pick C3 if you are willing to give up Corsair for it too.
Highlander C2: You could pick this one and it would give you a different type of damage skills, mainly based around Bleeding+Sky Liner to deal high damage. For utility you get Crown and you could also use Cross Guard (with weapon-swap) to increase the damage of your Pierce-type skills later on.
You could also choose to go into C3 for Armor Break, but you would have to give up Corsair for it.
Peltasta C3: To get the highest amount of Swash Buckling and Armor Break. This is an easier option to acquire Armor Break since it allows you to keep Corsair in the build which Highlander does not. This could depend on the composition of your party too, since Armor Break only benefits physical attackers.
So I would say one of these would fit you the best:
Swordsman->Peltasta->Barbarian C2->Corsair C2->Fencer (if you really want Corsair C2).
Yeah, it includes everything that increases your Physical Attack.
Yeah, it is Shinoa and I haven’t watched the second season either.
I used this picture mainly because it was one of the few that fit the circular shape better when I created this account (out of the ones I had at hand).
Haven’t really cared enough to change it, but maybe I will one of these days. She is a funny character, so I don’t mind either.
I cant wait until i go back to school and finish my engineering degree, so ill never have to step foot in another store again, for anything other then shopping…
Maybe then i can enjoy my 20’s not stressing over work and loising sleep trying to keep a store running above the standard…
Why take Peltasa at all on a Fencer? Swash Buckling is quite handy don’t get me wrong, but I wouldn’t consider it a ‘necessary’ skill. I find myself using it less and less on my Cataphract for example.
A very good skill when you are in dungeons and heavy mob areas like Demon Prison. Easily taunt about 14 monsters to come to you and your team mates wipe them out with high damage AOE instead of running around luring monsters.
You will use it more at higher levels, since most of the PvE content turns into grinding parties / dungeons. It makes getting into parties easier.
But other than that, you also get +18% Evasion from Guardian, +25% HP after using Swash Buckling and +25% Block when using a Shield which are all great bonuses that go well with Fencer. Plus the invaluable ability to block manually while using a shield, which makes a huge difference in many aspects of the game.
