Hello, fairly new and was hoping to get some criticism on a build. http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/u1olt3lxmu/
Some friends and I are starting next week so I’m planning to go templar to link us all together in a guild. What I intend to do with this build is be able to tank in pve and not be totally useless in pvp.
I was at a bit of a crossroads for r6, not exactly sure if Cata c2 is my best choice, but for the purpose of completing the build I went into it. Would love for some suggestions.
Hello,
Amazing guide, thanks a lot for taking the time to write this…
I have a small question though…
Do you know if Highlander Cross Guard pierce debuff will stack with Hoplite Lunge Pierce debuff? Or if it’s the same debuff and they don’t stack.
And also, do shinobi clones auto-atk with you? and if yes do they benefit from Corsair Double Weapon Assault.
Sorry if this is getting technical XD
It’s not the same debuff, at least the tooltips are different. So they should be able to stack.
I would not advise going with this idea unless you’re willing to throw away finestra.
Can’t you do that?
Cross Guard (with 2HS) > Finestra (1H-Spear/AutoSwitch) > Lunge ?
Thinking of a shinobi build so it would be like this…
Clones > Cross Guard > Finestra > Lunge > Kunai

@1curryman2 @Cathexis Thanks for answering
Dragontooth and Dragon Soar are multihits?
Between lvl 5 Deeds of Valor and Armor Break (Skull Swing), which gives more DPS? I read somewhere that the formula for damage against monster is something linear linear = attack+skill dmg… blablabla… - def
So assuming you have 800attack and monster has 400ish def (from certain lvl 300 boss) you will roughly deal the same amount of damage right? coz 800 + 50% = 1200 vs 400 more dmg from Armor Break (coz 400ish def become 0) according to formula.
You can, but stagger lasts only for 8 seconds. I had the same build in mind. The moment you switch back from spears to 2h to re-stagger, you will lose finestra. At least thats how I’ve been explained it works. Otherwise I’d consider building that.
However, you can still pull it off albeit a bit differently. You can main in 2h swords, stagger, lunge, switch back to 2h and stab/pierce with the 2 sword as neither pierce nor stabbing require you to actually use a spear. It would end up having more base damage but lack of finestra means you won’t be critting as often.
But think about it. You’d be basing your damage around the fact that the mob has to hit you first and you need to block. The wind up time for it to work seems really not worth it. But if you think you can find a way for it to work, and better yet make it crit - all glory to you. That would be damage x2 x1.5 x1.5 ( if critical ) x1.5 (if used 2h sword while executing the skill and it was critical )
Good luck!
@fitzfeliz stagger lasts 8 seconds.
I see your point.
I’m more talking about a potential burst to use clones and kunai with the best efficiency.
Basically what I said :
Clones > Cross Guard > Finestra > Lunge > Kunaix2
- Start with 2Hand sword
- Cast clones (20 sec duration)
- Cross guard to put the 8 sec stagger debuff.
- Cast Finestra (autoswitch to 1hand spear + dagger)
- Cast Lunge (small duration too I remember)
- Cast Kunai x 2
After that you’ll still be under finestra and can do other skills, hexen droper if you’re corsair or plainly hoplite skills.
Maybe I got something wrong though… Seems too good to be true…
No, you do have it right. I’m just saying if you’re not using 2h as a weapon, you’ll miss out on the +50% crit damage from highlander. Not a terrible thing to lose, considering you’d gain at least +100 crit rate or 150 depending on whether you’d go hoplite 3 or 2.
Makes me wonder what kind of a damage you’ll be able to pull off with it
Ah I didn’t even know about the 2HS attribute…

Ah, then highlander just went down the drain for me. Thank you for explaining.
I was wondering which of the following is better for a PvP oriented build:
For the 2nd one I’m expecting to get swordsman c3 in a future filler rank.
For a High3 Dopp2 build would the 3STR:1DEX and bonus points into CON work? I don’t know too much about the game yet but it seems this build would fall under “a lot of multihit skills” but the Highlander passive for crit multiplier is also there…
So, I have a question related to the guildmaster class. Is it possible to have it as your rank 7, and then just choose something else? Like say I intend to make a guild, but truly wanted to be a Fencer at rank 7. Am I locked into that rank 7 class choice? I feel like I’d be sacrificing a lot of damage on that character for the sake of the guild.
I wish the guild system wasn’t this way, it makes it tough. I’ll probably have to end up making a seperate guildmaster character, won’t I?
Ok so a few of my own questions aswell, maybe some one knows the answer:
-
Does the number of stabs from stabbing in hoplite decrease depending on the level or is it a constant 14?
-
Which defence is actually affected by DoV? Is it your defence that you get from levels, or does everything count including gear and abilities? The moment those stack build up to 10, do you lose every single point of defence you had?
-
Gae bulg from dragoon makes enemies weaker to physical attacks according to the description. What are the figures behind this? Is it something like spear lunge for example?

Helped me a lot. Great guide!!
I never played a swordsman, I played an archer to SR before and a linker c3 into alchem. I figured it looks similar to multishot hence why I’m asking. No need to be rude.
Total defence really stings, would be a big hit.
So with passive attributes and gae bulg you’d have +35% against large and + 25% vs bosses, interesting. Thank you.
Just a quick question, it says corsair gains 2.5% (7.5%) damage whe nattacking from behind with a dagger.
if I’m using a MH spear, OH dagger, does that give me the 7.5% bonus dmg?
or does it have to be MH dagger, or MH / OH both daggers
