Group Tank build post level 200

So I’m currently 75, I haven’t pick up my 4th circle yet, I am currently

Sword > Peltasta > Peltasta

I been reading on the forum and many say Peltasta x3 is required, but then on another post Peltasta x2 is fine, and I just need to contribute to the damage. So here is what I am thinking.

either

Sword > Peltasta x3 > Rodelero x3

or

Sword > Peltasta x2 > Rodelero x2 > Fencer x2

I was thinking Squire too, not to sell goods but maybe repair, since when I do Dungeon my armor seems to almost break quickly. Just need to know which would be best, before I pick Peltasta x3 and can’t go back.

A few quick notes, but I really must be off to sleep.

  1. Peltasta 3 isn’t necessary. It really doesn’t bring any extra tanking to the table as you go up to C3 with the exception of 5 more targets on Swashbuckling, which is overkill. You get attack skills, which are nice, but not necessary. It depends on how much you want those attack skills.

  2. Rodelero + Peltasta + Fencer is pretty much the trifecta of a tank. That’s an excellent choice. It’s probably my favorite class combination in the game.

  3. Rodelero 3 + Peltasta 3 is going to make you hate your life. It’s going to be horrible to level up. You are going to have fairly low consistent damage output. It may discourage you from leveling altogether. If it does not, however, you do have a lot of utility as a tank! It is a valid option. It will be a nightmare to level though. I wouldn’t recommend ever really soloing.

  4. Squires are super helpful classes, but they cannot open shops in dungeons, so don’t pick them for that. Also, I agree that armor breaks way too often in dungeons. It is really frustrating. There is a topic trending in general discussion now about just that.

So since monsters in Earth Tower use magic attacks, which avoid evasion and blocking, it seems the only thing I should take into consideration is the amount of HP, defence and utility?

This leads me to conclusions:

  • Peltasta C3 is useless
  • Rodelero C3 is useless
  • Squire is useless in general in Earth Tower
  • Hoplite is completely useless, since Finestra gives block that is useless against magic attacks

It appears the way to go is:

Swordsman -> Peltasta C1 -> Peltasta C2 -> Rodelero C1 - Rodelero C2 for a base build and then it would be a matter of going Corsair for Jolly Roger, or Fencer for some damage.

Is Fencer C2 necessary, or maybe I could take Fencer C1 and then one of the other classes? Is Templar useful for anything other than guild making?

I really want to make the best possible tank, I don’t care about leveling difficulty at all, I like pain. I wanna be a feaking juggernaut that rams monsters, the one everyone wants in their party

you can take fencer c2 and gamble on what fencer c3 would get when rank 8 comes out, but I think we’ll be getting more damage skills on C3 instead of utility.

corsair if you’re going the tank route, jolly roger attribute should be helpful. now why did I say -should- be helpful, because I don’t really know if it’s working, we get no animation or sound upon trigger.

I mean’t to say block, but the outcome is the same - useless

I just asked almost the exact same question in my thread! I too am making a fencer tank with a base pelt2->rode2->fencer and am debating whether to take another rank of fencer or take a rank of corsair or doppel, or even make it my templar instead of my cata3(probably not doing this though).

Lostac’s point about the eventual fencer c3 is probably going to push me in the direction of fencer c2 though, it could be really good even if it’s just extra damage… We already have ~33% uptime magic immunity from rode2, a good swashbuckling and Fencer c3 will give us even more evasion on lunge and whatever damage we get is definitely welcome unless there’s a fantastic utility class on rank 8.

Squire is usefull in ET , you can’t set shop in automatchmaking group but you can use squire skill if go inside the basic way (and every other dungeon too)

Hi Mike,

I’m a full con C3 pelt and in my honest and humble opinion, its a great class if you love playing in a party. i received a lot of praise from people around saying how they appreciate having a c3 pelt around.

I honestly don’t see much point branching to other classes once you’re a C2 pelt. because at the end of the day you cant contribute that much damage. so i rather go pure all the way.

and if you choose C3 pelt, i think squire is the way for your next rank - since this would make you the ultimate support hero.

Cathexis would probably hate what I’m saying, but this is really my own experience. I’ve tried it and i found to love it. much to the contrary of what others have said about c3 pelt.
