Got what I need for Cleric and Wizard, lets talk about Swordsman!

Well as those who seen my posts before. Pretty much decided on my cleric being Cleric> C2 Priest > C3 Paladin > PD stats going str/con/spr/dex 4/2/2/2 making use of Crit Rate Gems and what not. For my Crafting Alchemist, Wizard > Pyro2> Linker > Thaum > Alchemist 2.

But now I need a swordsman build, and I will explain what I want to do with it. Basically all swordsman builds are “Tanks” but what degree of tanking they can handle may be different. I like either Dual Wielding or classic Sword and Board, I want to be able to get large quantities of mobs, keep threat on them, and hold them while surviving. I like being the more defensive type of “Tank” so will welcome ideas from those who done alot of theorycrafting and testing themselves. Also to help liven this board up a bit more since hell, gonna be another 2 or so months before OBT happens, unless they do a CBT3 first.

You may like these builds:

Swordsman -> Peltasta -> Hoplite C2 -> Squire C2 -> Dragoon
Stats 3 str / 2 con / 1 dex

This build is more off-tank, you will deal great damage to multiple mobs with Peltasta’s taunt and Hoplite’s Stab, you will crit very often even with low dex because of Finestra. Squire C2 is for utility, but you can max Arrest for locking multiple mobs for 10 seconds.

Swordsman -> Peltasta -> Barbarian C3 -> Fencer C2
Stats 1 str / 1 con / 3 dex

This build is more damage oriented, you will “tank” with your evasion and deal lots and lots of damage. The core damage of this build is critical hits, but magical damage is your nightmare.

Swordsman -> Peltasta C3 -> Squire -> Doppel(copter)soeldner C2
Stats 1 str / 1 con / 2 dex

This one is pretty peculiar, you will drag LOTS of mobs with lvl 15 taunt, and finish them all with your (helicopter) cyclone. Squire is for a little utility and weapon buffs

Swordsman -> Peltasta -> Barbarian C2 -> Corsair C3
Stats 1 str / 1 con / 2 dex

A build for your dual wielding =)

Anything particular to note for that last build? The Dual wielding one.

I haven’t played as corsair, so I don’t have much to say :frowning:

Oooh ok. np, im sure someone may be able to illuminate that. Thanks for the great builds. Need to think those over while waiting to see what others have for input.

Shoutouts to @Cathexis if they can help here cuz I have too many doubts myself to provide proper help.

As a matter of fact they have helped a very high number of people, it being outside of the topic oculd or could not matter. The only requirement as far as I’ve noticed is not being a pretentious ass which this topic fills just fine.

Nah, it’s just that it’s 2016 and the meme is not what it was, and neither is that one.

Jairu and his adolescent angst aside. Builds I seen so far are pretty good. Hopefully get some more answers on this. Dragoon looks neat, looks like a versatile build really specially with that Squire 2. Cant wait to see more suggestions. Originally I was gonna be a Swordy Main but I wanted to be a Hybrid this time around, hence my Clerics build. But yea…Squire will be useful to go with my Alchemist for sure. Cant wait to see more builds.

As for @Cathexis yea seen his long thread, but now all his original posted builds are obsolete, so I am interested in what he has to say on the new 7 circle builds.

With that Peltasta c3 build, you will have a hard time for early grind even though you have a party to back you up.

I recommend this build for dual wielding Swordsman -> Peltasta c1 -> Highlander c2 -> Corsair c2 -> Shinobi c1
You will use traditional DEX (2) > STR (1) build. Shinobi is one of the few Swordsman classes that are powerful at late game PvP, even against other classes.
This video is the skills showcase example. Don’t mind the level difference, but mind how the skills work.

Peltasta c1 & Highlander c2 is for MUCH easier early grinding session, for both solo and party play.

I don’t have to explain much about Corsair c2.

Well if you like to dual wielding your only choice for rank 7 would be shinobi or dragoon after going hoplite.

Corsair 3 is interesting to get pistols if you like the sword pistol style of gameplay , and you get to use the mana-mana which is a very welcome upgrade of the arde dagger.

To taunt mobs all you need is a Peltasta, peltastas can use their taunt with any secondary weapon.
Highlanders C2 are quite strong right now so if you dont like using a spear for finestra ( which would be the case if you went hoplite) you should try highlander 2.

tldr: spear dagger - hoplite dragoon
Sword dagger - highlander shinobi
X - pistol - x - Corsair C3

Damn, Dragoon and Shinobi are both pretty cool. This will be a hard choice.

Dragoon dual wielding? Dont they usually use two handed spear? So, dual one handed spears if Dragoon taking corsair?

According to tosbase all dragoon skills can be used with one handed spear + anything.

What kinda builds would you go with for the 3 you suggested?

Well the thing about swords is just its hard to mess up builds. Swords is just a matter of taste on how you want to build them.

For swords I dont like to spit builds as they are all about personal preferences

Yea some hard decisions. Ninja build seems good for PVP. The Dragoon Build seems excellent for PVE and it has the C2 Squire. Hrmm…
