Good bye Fencer?

So it wasn’t enough to nerf Fencers by having high weapons with relatively easy access to other classes, but now they’re considering nerfing Fencer, the crit-dependent class, by taking away the crit rate from DEX? What is the point of even playing as a Fencer now lmao! Our DMG gets buffed by 2.5 if we land a crit. Without the Crit Rate from DEX, Fencer is clawless.

Why are you so quick to jump to conclusions when the re-balance hasn’t even been applied and no one has had a chance to test it?

Just a wake up call to IMC devs, who knows they didn’t even thought of that? We can’t blame players speculating since there are many holes on their recent update/plan release. It’s always good to discuss the pros and moreover the CONs. Wondering why they didn’t bother including that on their initial notes lul.

They’re providing Class and Skill resets with this entire thing and doing skill adjustments as well.

You have no idea of what crit chance players will have through itemization or even if said mechanics will still remain for Fencers or be altered.

Well I stand corrected, they did mention something in the notes:

“Since crit will be removed from stats, it will only exist on gear and there will have to be a base crit rate in the formula.”

By the way, DEX will now give Crit Atk. How is this bad?
You will have way more crit atk now on Epee Garde, just gem crit rate on off-hand and you’ll be fine.

I think fencers will be OP after those changes, because they already decreases the enemy crit resist, so they’ll keep high crit rate (but lower than now) and have a higher crit atk

They explicitly said they were adding weapons, particularly rapiers, because they realize that the crit rate will have to come from somewhere.

Yeah, crit from equips, yay. Now the fencers who already spend millions in attributes will ALSO have to expend another million on full crit-rate equips. Don’t expect to be playing ACTUAL fencer till lvl 330 and a couple days of grinding.
BB fencer, all that gruesome and hellish time leveling S3-P1-C1 to get into Fencer only to have all your rewards taken away.

If I were playing solo I would actualy quit. Since I play with friends I’ll just start another character and leave my fencer catching dust (at least he improves my ‘team experience buff’, so I can’t say he’s useless)

I guess you’ll kill yourself if you play a support class.

If crit rate is unreliable, than crit atk is pretty much useless. Better to invest in WAY more reliable Phy Atk that will also improve your ‘crit damage’.

There is absolutelly no reason for what they did with DEX. And there is simply no reason to pump DEX now, its just plain useless:

  • Want damage? Pump Str instead as it is more reliable
  • Want to hit more often? Pump Str, as DEX DOES NOT give ACC anymore
  • Want more surviability? Pump CON

DEX is a evasion/block pen stat now. We could already make do with low block pen before, so nothings changed. And evasion? Everyone knows that evasion is kind of a joke later in the game, it’s just a nice thing to have since you would be going full DEX for those juicy crits.

Praying that they do either two things now:

  • Come back with the crit rate in DEX (str can have the accuracy, we will just have to build hybrid)
  • Come up with a new stat: LCK, which is responsible for the crit stuff.

The latter would make ToS a bit more like their inspiraton: Ragnarok

It’s hard building as a DPS and having no damage at all till you reach C6. In the meantime, you see even clerics with their sacrament/bless/whatevs shenanigans doing more damage than you.
And if you’re not a hardcore player, it does indeed take some time to get there.

You just sit there with your finger pressed in Z w8ing for the mobs to die. Hence and repeat.

Depends if Crit attack stays as 1 and how significant the ASPD boost to AA’s are in terms of Dex relevance.

This patch in general requires (and they’ve mentioned) a lot of pruning for classes so who knows where things end up.

The problem is that you are trying to level a char with a build that is late bloomer. That sort of thing you have to have in mind before leveling a new char.

I can relate to that though, in my case I picked Hunter 3 , Falconer and Scout as R5~7 options and I suffered a lot until I got to Mergen…now all the suffering has paid off.

Don’t push Fencerss away from AoE (attack +1) headgears please IMC lul :smiley:

If you still think getting to r6 is hell before fencer, then I got nothing to say. Keep whining here :slight_smile:

Yeah, I have no prob in being a late-bloomer.

If those early-levels pay off that is… Which is my problem with the DEX rebalance :frowning: If feels like what used to be a C6 late blooming is now a C8+hours and hours of grinding for equips late blooming, which makes the build rather unviable.

As Declas mentioned, maybe de ASPD will help. But keep in mind that since the CD does not change, only a handful (in the case of Fencer, Attaque Composee and Falconade) actually beneffiting from it.

Alright, but you are assuming things that had not been fully detailed yet.

My suggestion is for you to leave this worrying pending until the update hits kTest, then we can gather the players’ thoughts from there and see how does Fencer fare with the changes.

This topic reminds me of the Doppel DOV+Cyclone nerf:
Everyone cried “RIP Doppel! Sux now” and got all worked up about it, even way before anyone had any facts, and refused to calm down but instead prophesied the TOS apocalypse.

You guys should relax and wait until we actually know the new stat mechanics, the new gear stats and the new skill mechanics. And even when we know these facts it’ll be some months before we get them on iTOS so you’ll have plenty of time to make preparations and adjust.
Not to mention that they said they’ll hand out tons of free stat resets, rank resets and skill resets.

The point of playing Fencer is playing a high singletarget dps class.
And since you neither know the new crit rate formula nor the new crit values from gear your complaints have no basis. Who says that you are unable to get 85~100% crit rate with the new gear stats and the new formulas?

I don’t get you guys crying. Fencer 3 is clearly broken.

Using a lv 170 weapon +5 stage 0 we could do more damage than almost any other class before stage 7+ 315 weapon.

Wait for more info. Skills will be reworked, gear stats probably… and new weapons may come. Just the fact that CON doesn’t give crit resist anymore already says a lot. Fencer may end up being a green gem hungry class (two on main weapon/two on the dagger) and crit rate gear giving up yellow’s crit attack in favor of abusing the massive epee garde bonus.

We’ll lose DPS? Sure. if we consider the current state of the class… BUT with a 315 rapier worth transcending (even with the new lower values)…remember skills might all get a fat %mod so… it will be okay I think. We don’t have enough info to discuss anything just…wait.

kTEST will test stuff for weeks and then they move things to kTOS and only after several weeks we are going to get this patch so stay vigilant. The only advice I can give for your now is stop panicking and save money, don’t go too deep on burning silver on things that might get replaced soon (like investing on a super expensive level 8 yellow gem on your venier), level 90+ attributes on skills that might get ultra nerfed, ultra transcendence and etc.
