Give us opportunity to play without pets

In every game i’m trying to avoid having any kind of pet.

And looks like here everyone forced to have a pet / companion, otherwise they will gimp themselves.

Why so? I want to play with player but not with AI pets.

It’s unhealthy for game for several reasons:

  • Gameplay: Too many objects on screen = poor FPS and distraction from gameplay. This game has very bad optimization, and imagine every player now has a pet. Thats 2x more lags!

  • Lore: Pets fits Hunters, Falconers, Cataphracts and Necromancers. It’s their primary role. Why force everyone to be a Hunter?

I know there are a lot of people like me.

My solution:

  • When you don’t have a pet summoned - your damaged is increased by ~3%. Pet Classes keep this bonus even with active pet.

  • In Dungeons/PvP arenas/GwG only Companion classes can summon a companion [Hunters, Falconers, Cataphracts and Necromancers].

That is dumb, just make us unable to click on them if they arent ours, impossible to move with mouse cursor if more than 2 around, stupid design decisions like this one really makes me mad.

I agree, im level 177 and i didnt touch my companion. Like you i mostaly agree with the lore point.

They do some damage but its not that much that it makes it mandatory.

How about sorcs?

If you want fit them in lore then all mage classes should have one - in most games/fantasy books etc mages either look for creating golems which do their bidding, have summoned elemental or imp or just have some kind of “cute” pet - cat, frog, bat, crow etc. Imo they even should allow us to improve our companions - like giving them eq or at least allowing us to change their stats/skills during lvl advancement. The lag issue should be resolved by disabling of other players companions on our screen.

We should just remove all class2 and above classes. That makes the game simple and lesser stuff to complain about. After all what we need are the 4 base classes to different shape them anyway. So let’s remove them all together with companions.

Make pets unable to click!! I’m a Archer and my own pet affect me when i attack mobs using a mouse.

The game is just new. It will be optimized sooner or later and this problem will disappear (probably). But I’d like your second solution, it seems fair to me, but I also want these “mount classes” (that’s how I call them lol) to be able to use their pets (e.g.: Cataphract, Schwarzer Reiter etc.).

But I also don’t mind joining a match where pets are allowed to attack. No rules? NO RULES! :punch:

My idea needs more LIKES!

Honestly I would be alright with a small decrease to damage (maybe 5%) if you happen to be using one while not playing falconer, cataphract or hunter. Or if you want the inverse a 5% buff when not using one. Currently there isn’t a reason to NOT use them (outside of them filling your screen in groups), a small incentive to not use them would be enough for me.

I wouldn’t go as complex as to make different buffs for which type of pet you have but not use. If I choose a companion I don’t want to have to go as far as figure out which is best from a min-max standpoint. A static change is all it needs.

Wow your idea is good.

Added this to original post.

“When you don’t have a pet summoned - your damaged is increased by ~5%.”

So even people without any pet have damage increased by 5%?

No one forces you to. Pets’ worth is only at leveling alts during their early levels. They are terrible at everything else unless you are pet class.

[/quote] Punishing pet classes for what they are? No ty.

Okay okay, those pets classes keep this bonus even with pet summoned! Plus i tuned down to 3%. I think its more fair.
