Gem How-To and Tips?

Yes, I used the search function and didn’t really find what I was looking for.

So I’m making this kind of late seeing as I was in the first test group, but I also figured it’d be a good time with the second test coming up to get this solved:

The only thing that managed to totally elude me was understanding the gem system and how it worked.I collected many gems when I played but even when the tutorial for it came up,I was clueless afterwards on how to use them and what equipment they were really useful for.

In layman’s terms [or in reddit terms ELI5],can someone explain to me how to use gems, and how to make the best use of them? I need to know in general, but I’m going down the Wizard path and also would love to know if/what gems are good for magic equipment.

Thank you!

Mkay so how gems work is that you have to first open a socket in your equipment through the Blacksmith I believe. This costs 1 potential per socket opened.

You can place a gem into the equipment afterwards (I forgot how but you either right click the gem and then click the equipment or you drag and drop… the in game tutorial tells you how fairly well IMO).

To level a gem for a better positive upgrade and a worse negative side effect (which can be lessened through the Alchemist Gem Roasting), you first have to sit down and click on the gem upgrading system on your hot bar. Then you just place random items, other gems, or boss cards (I think) into the gem to give it experience to level up.

As for which gem is better for the Wiz path… I dunno lol I just used blue gems because it increased magic damage. Each gem tells you what it increases and decreases when they are placed in certain equipment slots ie chest armor would give magic defense or something and weapons would give magic attack straight up or something… disclaimer: These are examples not the actual thing it increases.

Anything else I missed… well someone else can probably cover it or it would be easier to explain in game since it’s been a while since I’ve played.

Equipment has sockets into which you put gems, you level up gems by sacrificing other gems or weapons for exp, if I remember correctly.

I used one for my bow to get my crit rate up, but it also lowered crit dmg. They are more of a umm… tool that helps you to push your build a little bit more in a specific direction , I guess.
It looks like it’s not always a good idea to install gems, unless late game you find some that have no downsides.

Gem roasting is nullifying most of the negatives

Good to know, can you explain how does this “roasting” takes place?

I imagine in an alchemists belly ^^ cant really write long descriptive posts while at work, look up some alchemist guides ^^

damn you ! xD

Gem Roasting you can look more information in here. Better effect will depend on skill level alchemist have.

To level up gem do as Garrnett said above. You can put in almost everything.
Gem and Card = 100 pt, Material = 5 pt, Gear is varied amount.
To add gem just right click gem and click on gear that you want to add gem
You can also remove gem out but it’ll cost money + decrease star of gem by 1 for each time it was remove. (so you have to re upgrade it again if you need same star before remove)

For wiz I’d suggest blue in weapon because it’ll add Magic Attack.
Armor and Pants can be blue for SP or red for HP.
Don’t go with anything that add critical because magic can’t do critical.

For wiz depends on your playstile, For CC/suport I reccomend blue gem on pants and armor, to increase sp regen and max sp. For damage put on the staff. I dont remember what the blue gem do on boots. High level gem arent always better, if I remeber right a lvl 5 blue gem on a staff add 70 magical power and takes 50 sp wich is a lot, if you want to use high leveled gems without gem roasting, you should get 2 of them ex: one for ar,or and one for staff, one will nullify the other debuff, since the bonus is always higher.

Thank you all for the informed replies! I’ll try to combine them all to make a better picture in my head of the process. At the same time I wish IMC had made a picture guide of it like they did the other game components…

It sounds very helpful that I was already planning on being on Alchemist! I just need to use them best for the play-style I’m aiming for,it sounds like.I’m still figuring that out, since I want my classes leading up to it to be good enough skill-wise to be able to party or solo, and for Alchemist to add to that as well.I’ll be re-experimenting with my build,I think.

Sorry I got confused and messed up, blue gem on gloves increase sp regen, on armor is just max sp.

Question about Gem, What if we roast the gem before increase it? Let’s say I use Alchemist Roasting gem to remove the negative effect of Lvl 4 Gem, after that I increase it to lvl 5 will the negative effect back or not?

yes, you have to re-roast it again you damn necro.

Lol - there is no winning on this forum. If a user starts up a new thread for info, they are yelled at for not searching the forums. If they ask a question in an old thread, they are fussed at for necroing an old topic.

preach brother! preach!

why can`t i socket gem in my crafisun set? When i try to socket at blacksmith. It said ‘‘Not possible on this item type’’. But why my crafisun has a socket slot for gem. Can someone explain this to me. ;(

You didn’t have to necro a thread for this question…
Anyways… You use the blacksmith only to open a socket on an equipment. You do not use the blacksmith hereafter. Simply right click the gem, clear the warning popup, select the equipment you want to attach the gem to.

WHY DID YOU NECRO THIS THREAD!!! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

My brain r esplodes! I can’t take it anymore! I’m gonna end it all!! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Are you sure ? I’m almost certain if you roast a gem, even if you lvlup after it won’t need be re roast it. (As long the roast lv is bigger or = than the final gem lv)
