Well at least don’t make it easier for them, make them have to use an axe or something, not a rifle that can kill 40 people in 10 seconds, you guys and the process you all endure over your heads to make it easier for yourselves to accept your gun policy is lunatic, and as much as this tragedy is insane it is also fault of your own country.

As much as I feel with the US and gay community after this assault, I don’t see how some US citicens (and it looks like it’s most of them) still have the audacity to defend their right to legally own war weapons.
Human nature is violent. Some ppl will lose their mind over something, be it gay couples or anything else. The only thing you can do is make it harder for everybody to kill ppl in masses.
I dont know the US laws, but this is how I understand whats happening: It is legal to own weapons that can shoot hundreds of rounds in a minute. However it is not legal to carry them in public. (Pls correct me if I’m wrong!) So with that on hand, how are you going to (1) be a lawful citicen (not bring an assault rifle to the club) and, at the same time, (2) defend yourself against somebody who decided not to be lawful and go out to kill as many as possible before finally killing himself? I cant understand this. It clearly doesnt go together.
The EU recently changed weapon laws so that everybody who does not have a valid reason to use a weapon on a regular basis must not own one. And thats the only solution to this problem. Yes, there will still be incidents where illegal weapons are used for acts of terror, but the broad majority of the population is safe from the drunk and / or mentally instable ppl. The thing is that in the EU, the police can target anyone who tries to buy an assault weapon easily. US police cant do that. The guy buys a weapon and 1000 rounds, and police cant do s***… How can anybody still tell me that the US weapon laws do protect the ppl?

Its really simple to understand. You are allowed to own more than one gun. People who own the larger ones generally only use them for home protection or hunting. A smaller handgun is taken with them when they go out for protection in public places.
I could right now, walk out to my kitchen and in less than 5 minutes, using only the products stored under my sink, create a toxic gas that could kill far more than 40 people and was used to kill thousands of people in WWI. Yet those things and the knowledge of how to do this is 100% legal. It would be easier and cheaper than buying a gun for me to rig up a bomb to deploy this gas into a crowded building and kill everyone inside. The only downside is that they wouldn’t die as quickly as you do when shot with a gun, they would go through probably at least an hour of pain and suffering first. I say at least because if they get unlucky they could suffer from the horrible symptoms for a few years before dying.
So yeah, making guns illegal will totally stop people from killing each other.
Oh. Well. That totally worked tonight, right? Sorry for being sarcastic on such an intense topic, but the US weapons laws are a joke…
You stated earlier that there are 1000s of ppl who didnt do anything wrong with their weapons for every one shooter, and that if you took the weapons from the ppl, the madmen would find other ways to kill.
The thing is that if you do carry handweapons in public, then why would you need assault rifles at home? Also, there’s a difference between a guy going full amok with a knife and an assault rifle. In this case, if the guy would have been really skilled with the knife, at the worst he could have killed 3-5 guys before being tackled and restrained by others? Well, this would be a difference of 45 dead bodies. Should be worth some reforms, imho.

It didn’t work tonight because you aren’t allowed to bring weapons into certain businesses. The only reason he managed to get his in was because he shot the guy at the door who is supposed to check for them.
The US government defines a mass shooting as ‘three or more victims killed in an indiscriminate public rampage’. Taking that into consideration there were 6 mass shootings last year. Meanwhile, there were at least 15 shooting attempts prevented by armed citizens. I would rather be able to protect myself than wait an hour for the police to show up and hope I manage to live that long, but maybe I’m weird for not wanting to die.

I already wrote about this in my discussion with Anita. You can go back and reread that I’m not gonna repeat myself. Although I’m also done debating this. I think access to assault weapons capable of killing lots of people need to be removed but let’s not go overboard to the point where we are eventually hating on our own rights to self-defense.
I’d rather not be like Europe here in the states where if someone attacks me with a knife and I defend myself, I go to prison with him because self-defense is a crime lol. But ya know, I have 2 close European friends who had to tell me about things like this and about how my UK friend has to worry about being shanked on the streets of London if she’s not careful about what time she goes out and where she goes to.
But people who preach about how wonderful these European systems are never talk about these things at all. That violence is still a problem in Europe despite gun bans.
Gun are banned in France too and that didn’t stop the massive murder that happened there awhile back, did it?

Seriously people. Wake up. You think banning guns is going to solve the problem? Banning guns might reduce certain kinds of mass murder but mass murder will exist in new ways. At least you have a chance at survival if you see a gunman, heck you may be a gun owner yourself and can defend yourself against this gunman, but bombs being planted in trash cans? Or chemical warfare? You’ve got no chance to defend yourself against that.
There are very real problems within our very society. There are also problems with terrorist activity as well. Until we start working on our societal problems and working on real solutions to DEFUND terrorists and destroy their organization, we aren’t going to have mass violence under control no matter how much of our freedoms we let go of.

Plus I really detailed my stance already. So I’m just gonna say automatic weapons make it way easier to impulse kill, and take out targets efficiently if it’s planned. It also takes brains and access to public places going unnoticed to place bombs. Yes the knowledge is there, yes it can happen, it’s just easier to shoot people. Not only because of how its done but because when people do things they think are inherently wrong, they like quick and easy if they have a conscience. It’s like pulling off a band aid.
Even if you want to defend your right to bare arms, go hunting, etc., which I can understand, there is no reason anyone should own a gun capable of doing what happened at Pulse.
Okay that’s my last 2 cents (I’ve donated an entire dollar) on this subject of gun bans because I think I’ve discussed it thoroughly enough and at this point it’ll just start going in circles.
One thing we can all agree on is this has been a tragedy, and I hope the victims and friends/families of the victims can find some peace.
