I hold a special place for amd in my heart <3

I’m not a fan of AMD because of its high power usage although sometimes I consider to use AMD products years ago because of its reasonable price range. I was using R9 270 at that time and upgraded it to GTX 970.

I always used AMD graphic card, due to their low price-high performance ratio, but lately they have been losing ground against nVidia which is why I got a GTX 760 during Black Friday last year. I’m a fan of Sapphire’s various cooling solution cards. I’m hoping for AMD to gain some ground back and create some competitions.

This year, I’m hoping to get an IPS monitor, because the colors on my current monitor sucks ass and it’s affecting me when I’m trying to color my artwork digitally. Hopefully I can get a cheap Sypder 5 Pro too, but I doubt I can afford both even if they both will go on sale.

For high-end 4k gaming, I prefer R9 Fury X rather than GTX Titan or GTX 980 SLI.
But for 1080p resolution, GTX 970 is still the best buy even though AMD has released its R9 series.

Well AMD cards usually do have a higher power consumption but it isn’t enough to even notice on a power bill. It really just means the cards will run hotter than Nvidia cards. That can be great in the winter or if you live in a cold area lol. My R9 390 can get up to about 85 degrees on full load which is really high, but that’s why I have a full tower with proper ventilation and my pc is right by an open window :stuck_out_tongue: I’m all about getting the most performance per dollar so I can put up with my pc being a little warmer.

I live in a country with 2 seasons only and the place I currently live in is very hot even when it’s in rainy weather. That’s why I prefer a cooler and quieter GPU. AMD products will explode here considering I almost use my computer 24/7.

Yeah in your case I’d recommend an Intel/Nvidia setup. I’d never recommend that for a gaming-only rig for anyone unless they were in your situation. AMD’s value is just straight up better than Nvidia in terms of performance, but you won’t really be enjoying that performance if you’re in your room sweating to death xD

Is the shield any good? Always thought about getting one :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Didn’t expect someone to reply my plan to get the SLIs but it is indeed an interesting topic.

I went on saying that the 970s my primary choice because at the time I posted that I didn’t know about the arrival of the newer cards, the r9 390 and Fury X. Now that I’ve seen some videos of it, I am more than convinced to get myself a 390 and see how it is worth. But I also heard that it cannot perform well in 4k and the GTX seems to be beating it hands down in terms of stability in framerates in 4k.

I am actually using the Corsair CX750m and I heard it is enough for the SLIs. But having you said that SLIs will bring stuttering (which I hate the freaking most. With my current GPU running COD:AW already causing stuttering at all ultra!) I think I might reconsider on getting the SLIs and go for a single powerful GPU. I might grab the newest Fury X if I have to but I might need to collect more budget for that lol. I played at 1080p for most part but I have a 4k monitor but only for playing PS4 currently. If I got myself those cards, I will surely play on 4k lol.

How about the GTXs tho? I heard that 980 Ti is such a beast and people seemed to have a wonderful experience with it.

(sorry for my crappy english. Was in mobile when typing the whole thing haha. Took me 15 minutes just to write this all down lol)

EDIT: By the way, are you Tiduspeco from RO2?

PC: Alienware Alpha

Keyboard: Z board
Mouse: E-Blue Razer

TOS sounds like its made for my steam box.

Yes I am the same Tidus from RO2  If you plan on playing 4K, your best bang for buck is definitely the Radeon Fury X. At 1080p is performs about the same as a 980Ti but at 1440p and 4K the Fury X pulls ahead and in some games ever out performs the Titan X which is close to double the price. Of course you have to keep in mind that at max details, you still won’t get 60 fps+ in most higher end games. That’s what the Fury X2 coming out later will be able to do, but that will probably cost in the $1000-$1200 range.

Personally though, I don’t think 4K is viable for gaming. The quality, surprisingly, isn’t that significant but the hardware required is extremely expensive. Plus I won’t be going back to 16:9 monitors ever again after getting my 21:9 monitor and 4K is not an option with those. I’d love to get the 34" 3440x1440 21:9 monitor, but with a refresh rate above 60hz. Maybe in a year or so I’ll get a new monitor cause 21:9 monitors are starting to become popular now and it’s so nice.

I agree. I’ve tried playing FPS games and MOBA games with 4k setup. The result? My head is spinning because my eyes were forced to do more tiring job by looking at every inch of that large screen, even though I was sitting faraway from the monitor.

Yeah because 4K monitors are usually around 35" and up so they’re really big.

XD

Ugh, that’s shiny.
Maybe youshould get another with yellow/orange led

I havent got enough hands to use any more D=
