Gamepad/Joystick Feedback - Cleric

Hello,

After playing a bit with the XBOX 360 controller I would like to give my feedback on my Cleric TOS experience. First and foremost, this game is great! I love it. I look forward to playing more. Here is what I thought of the XBOX 360 controller:

[COMBAT]
Combat and movement feels very fluid with a controller. I had no issues casting my Cleric spells in the correct direction I wanted, as well as no issues traveling the land. I thought the skill bar was extremely intuitive and worked flawlessly. I don’t feel any major changes are needed from this category at this point in time.

[DIALOGUE]
Dialogue for the most part, worked great! There is a bug when using a controller when receiving your quest rewards. When asked to choose a weapon, you have to put down the controller and use your mouse. Seems like this could be fixed easily though.

[UI/Menu interaction]
This is where the Controller experience is severely lacking. It is quite difficult, if not impossible, to access the options on the screen. The R1 + start to enable UI mode didn’t seem to help at all. Accessing your inventory, skills, stats, etc. was not enjoyable with a controller so I was forced to use both mouse/keyboard in addition to the XBOX controller. Another example would be the Quest Quick Return button (Backspace on keyboard)–On the controller, you cannot use this funciton. If you try to use R1 + start to enable UI mode to click the icon, clicking with the controller did nothing. I was also unable to figure out how to bring up the map without a keyboard. I resorted to putting the controller down and pressing M when needing to look at the map.

[OTHER]
Some other issues I came across was the inability to access “Rest Mode” via the controller. Smaller issue, unable to access emotes via the controller.

Some suggestions:
(1) Re-purpose the D-Pad for something else. Currently the joystick and D-Pad do the same thing. You could use the D-Pad the same way you use the skills and add a lot more options (For example, L1+D-Pad left, or L2+D-Pad right, etc.). Or perhaps if you press D pad up you can access your Map. D pad back could be “backspace.” These are just examples, but there are a lot of possibilities.
(2) Have the “UI” mode behave exactly like a mouse on controller. So that you can click all the options on screen if needed.
(3) Perhaps add more modes to the controller similar to UI mode where you can cycle through. Think of it like this: If you press R1 + start you can cycle through three modes: Controller mode, UI mode, “mouse mode.” which would all be modes for the controller. UI mode in this example could be changed so that the D-Pad or joystick focuses on each UI menu icon instead of what’s happening in game.

While I do feel that some other issues may take higher priority over the gamepad experience, I do feel that this area needs more work before launch date. How cool would it be to play Tree of Savior on a couch in your living room? Thank you for reading. I will continue to update if I think of anything else!

Very Respectfully,

Those issues that you’ve mentioned, were working in CBT1, but are now broken in CBT2 =/

I went back to find my old post about button combination that were not taught, and this was what I wrote:

To teleport back, press the select/back button.
To rest, press R1+R2.
To use menu, press R1 + start to activate cursor mode.
To open map, press L1 + select/back button.
To use quest item, press L2 + start button.
