why would i not participate? i get free gems from this event for no penalty. Why would you want players to not participate?
The fair player discussion should be rather obsolete in a good MMO. Major abuseable things should be discovered in pre-patch testing or a test server like old RO sakray. Then minor stuff should be regulated by enforced rules and timely fixes.
But wait, thats just a big illusion. Cause IMC is cancer.
Some people have ethics and value morale too, not only in a in real life situation.

So yeah, everyone can catch up, but what do people do who join the game after the event? They soon realize they need months of work to get that too. And during that time, the event (ab)users will be ahead in other aspects. Such is somewhat natural as I stated above, butā¦ the fact that there was this free event remains.
Though the goal is the same, it is clearly a different path knowing that everyone who has joined the game before you got the goodies with no effort. And I think that would either repell newbies or make them sit out until a similiar event comes, if at all.
Ah well, what do I care? The game is dead anyway.
In my class we used to have a big ratio for homeworks until the teacher notice too much similarities a lot of times.
He cancelled the note and found out that almost everyone copied the work of one person.
I feel sorry for you if everything in your way of thinking is about to take advantage and your lack of self esteem while labelling others randomly because not agreeing.

everyone is ahead of new players anyway, " we cannot do this event because then if new players come they wonāt be ahead"
what kind of excuse is that?
Ideally, a good event does not lead to new walls between players nor affect existing ones.
The taoist dumpling event was kinda well done in this regard.
The login event before that was not, cause it gave a free status reset that does not expire.
This one also fails cause it is abuseable to yield huge quantities of rewards.
Who cares about a few extra potions, gems, vouchers, TP? Noone, as long as everyone is limited to a few.
as i said, give players a break from the hard work so even poor players can get high lvl gems and enjoy being strong, not just the ones who have it all figured out with their warlock farming dp2f and lodge.
Itās pretty short sighted to sum it up about āletting poor people get richā.
In the end itās about game balancing.
This introduce a pretty big change in the game ārulesā about abrasive rarity and effort to get.
Some people will be please with it, others wonāt. (some who made business with it? Some who farmed for month to get a lv7, etc)
The main problem is moreā¦, if IMC can and decides to make those drastic changes every events (next time itās free saalus shard for everyone? or free lolopanther)
How do you progress or evolve in such a game (wait for events? farm things that will be worthless next patch, etc)
Some people can cope with it. But I think a lot of players usually prefer a game where things are fair and play time rewarded. Iām pretty sure these kind of events have a lot of potential to make lot of people quit. IMOO itās kind of bad move for the game.

Didnt the past event/patch also caused the gems to soar in prices?
how so? gems were not tradable beforeā¦
the only people who quit are those super hardcore guys who want everyone to āwork hardā like them.
That is the same for class reset, imc cares about the general population, who want class resets, who want to have that event with free gem abrasives, they donāt care about a āsuperhardcore guyā that will quit.
They could care less about you, they care more about more people playing the game.

Yes, thats why updates are also the caused they can make profit out of it, not just the other way around. So it is fair to think updates can also make the gems deflate to what is now.
