A lot of games don’t rely on quests to level anymore.
For most of them Dungeons or Grinding are the fastest ways or at least an obvious supplement to the exp.
However for ToS Dungeons you have to stand still for a very long time and have a daily limit so you can’t do anything/much else during the queue and you can’t do it indefinitely.
Grinding in this game is tiresome as well as some classes can only kill a set amount of mobs and then have to wait for CD to be up again or others take quite a while to actually kill stuff.
I’m all for grinding but if killing the mobs takes too much time for just a few 0.0x % it’s not enjoyable at all. It’s not too bad if the reward is comparable.
When TERA first came out soloing the BAMs was actually the fastest way to level even if you spent 3-10min killing one and it was super enjoyable (as long as you weren’t a Mystic, I guess).
ToS monsters that are comparable to BAMs are just a major pain in the ass without any real reward at the end most of the time.
Also looking at your Exp Bar on a level before reset is crushing in general, seriously stupid idea imo.
Farming ruined by DPK and too few channels.

Run across to the other side of the map to kill the other.
Reset to the start of the map and wait for the 1st mob to spawn again.
Then run again all the way to the other side of the map.

In RO you can make a max lvl char without doing any single quest. Moreover, you can make two differents alt leveling them in complete differents location. I made quest just for fun and unlock places

Has it been mentioned yet, that knockdowns are really annoying? I didn’t mind it when I started but there are monsters which use it on every attack.
Well, i did specify thru questing… i meant it as an alternative way.
People are complaining about it being repetitive, but it seems like many MMOs have repetitive quests as well.
In RO i remembered i used to be happy with at least 25% base/job exp every 30 mins grind. Alone. With a x3 exp modification event. With RO version of exp tomes. With a RO version of token. With so much consumables like buff potions and hp/sp potions used. Can’t say the same for TOS.
That is true. However, you miss out a lot by not doing quests, especially entrance quests. Most of the good grinding/farming places like biolabs are locked by quests. And you need to do the very same quest for every character you want to grind/farm it with. Which is, uhhm, repetitive.
In DN, currently, it is a grindfest, just run dungeons over and over til max level. But in the past… it was so much grindier that you’d grind + do all the main and side quests and it is still not enough. And DN is more alt-savvy than TOS with 16 open free slots. And to reduce being IMC’ed by DN’s meta, one way is to create alts (just like TOS) and for every alt one makes, all those quests had to be done again. Again, repetitive.
what makes TOS quests so bad are the stupid things like cooldowns on ‘press V’ objects, clicking things like flowers and herbs which are exclusive to one character (they should have made it sharable with others… like clicking the Miko manahas spirit), and the horrible spawn rate. Well at least the drops/kills from monsters are almost always on the same map. In RO some of the loots needed can be found… halfway around the world.
Better make transcendance easier and blessed shards very obtainable

Auto attack wasn’t ruined by Transcendence, but by Skills with high bases, multi hits, and multipliers.

Yeah, sorry, I tend to talk about the bullshit R8 content with transcend since it came up with it and is the main source of unbalance.

AA is ruined by the fact there is no attribute for AA’s. It would’ve made Cafrisun-similar sets so much more viable endgame.
