Future Gaming Potential

Hello all! I am very new to the game and have even never played it. I am going to be looking forward to trying it out and want to ask a few questions. Regardless of what happens I plan on being part of the community from hither and beyond. Feel free to answer any or reword for clarity any of these following (possibly noob) questions.

1)Considering I only found out about this game yesterday, when could I expect to be able to play it? (NA region but willing to connect to any server.)

2)Can anyone describe/summarize their favorite classes for me, as in what is it like to play them?

3)What was general leveling up like and is this expected to change somehow in future? (grindy? simple? easy? messy? team oriented? etc.)

4)How did the game run on your PC? (describe your hardware and settings)

5)What point in development is the game currently at? (Just finished the second international closed beta, what does this mean in the overall schedule?)

6)Seriously, when can I expect to play TOS(vote Toster), is there a possibility I can play right now somewhere somehow?

7)How active are the Developers on the forum/ how helpful?

8)What potential do you see in the game, what do you hope changes abou tit?

9)Is this too many questions, do you want me to shut up?

Thank you for your time! Peace, Love, Waffles.

  1. No idea
  2. Swordie go slash, cleric go whack, archer go pew, mage go magic pew.
  3. Was fine
  4. Good
  5. Just a baby
  6. Still no idea
  7. shrug
  8. Your question has the word “tit” in it
  9. Can’t shut up typing, can only remove fingers from keyboard

Hope this was helpful

  1. There is no update yet on the next CBT/OBT. kOBT will open on 17th Dec, if you’re up for that. There are ways to use an English language pak there iirc.
  2. Is this a question veiled to ask which class is good to play? If so it’s way too wide a question and you should narrow it down. You should quickly take a look at the tosbase skill simulator and play around with it, it can start giving you a rough idea of what they are about. Then once you have determined your preferences, then come back to the forums asking about the viability of certain classes you are interested in. That would be a better approach.
  3. The grind is boring and uninteresting due to the lousy AI of the mobs. Then on the other hand of the spectrum you get mobs that have no counter-play at all (ranged/magic mobs). I really wished they had thought it out better. RO Biolabs3 would be an example of mobs which are strong but can be defeated with the right setup.
  4. Very poor optimization. This is due to the use of old directx9 (or 10?) and poor CPU-GPU optimization.
  5. They are trying to push for release, but many of us disagree with that because there are still a plethora of bugs that need to be fixed. Some very serious gamebreaking exploits have recently been discovered (or were discovered early but left ignored for some time), so it’s actually concerning how they are rushing it out without ironing all the major issues. And the core major game design (linear game play, dumb mobs, too many quests) is also an issue, but I’d say it would require a rework from the ground up which is unrealistic.
  6. Dec 17th kOBT. You need a Nexon Korea account
  7. They are active, but the company itself is rather small. I suspect it may be stressful and understaffed for them. They are constantly trying to patch things up, but sometimes important things may be neglected (bullet boss crash allowed to exist for 1 week), though obviously you can see they are already trying their hardest.
  8. Everyone will tell you the same thing - Great potential, but so many possible screwups.

kOBT 12/17, SEA release(?) in march

It was totally broken in iCBT and will change for sure

i5-3450
Depends on updates. At first it was 20-130 fps, then it turned into freeze and lagspike fest, at the end it stabilized at ~50 fps.

They don’t care.

Casual team-based PvE with cute girls. PvP is out of question because of balance issues which cannot be fixed with current approach.

Thank you for your responses so far!

Sorry abou tit! oopse did tit again!

No, I was simply trying to coax an answer along the lines of “I normally play archers but this games archers are dumb” or “I like swordsmans but its impossible to play them here” or like “Holy Moly these clarics and wizards are the best I have ever seen mechanically, you have to play these classes or else you are missing out! And the spell animations are really COOL!”
-Thanks overall for your input elysium very calculated response.

Well as long as they are trying their best I am sure someone on staff is being influenced by you all.

Thanks for mentioning this I didn’t even think to ask about PvP.

  1. Answered in depth already by fuccboi (elysium) so I won’t bother lol

  2. Favorite class… Thaumaturge. It’s underrated by most for sure but I love it. Needless to say though there are a lot of classes, and even more that we haven’t experienced yet (not even including the near-guaranteed classes that come out even later, post-release, as most online games evolve and expand with time). What you should do first is ask yourself what you want to do in the game, what you want to be the best at and specialize in, and then you can start gunning from there. The game, like most, will likely have a very clear-cut difference in population at release; those who have prepared for the early game and those that have prepared for the late game. Skill Reset Scrolls and Stat Reset Scrolls were made available for this CBT but may either not be available in the future or they will at a $$$ cost. One thing we have not seen though is a way to change your class post-election and, with the exception of additional content being added during live play months after release, I wouldn’t expect there to be any way of changing your class. So… at least plan around that for now. You can be a master of your trade or a jack of them all. Again, I’d look closely at the role you’d like to play in the game and then make your own class picks based on that idea. Like… Do you want to be a full support? Too vague. The question should be along the lines of how do I want to support the party and then follow the lines to the class that helps you achieve that with your play style in mind.

  3. Leveling has been… odd. I won’t say that I disliked periods of the grind, nor would I say that I disliked the easy parts… but I feel overall that I wasn’t too satisfied with how the leveling went. Imbalanced. Incomplete. The grinding parts that I disliked weren’t because I needed to grind, or how I was grinding, but that the reason behind the grind was because of poorly planned progression. If that makes sense; grinding isn’t bad but having to grind only because specific gaping holes were left in progression was bad. Next time, whether the EXP is more balanced or not, I’m saving every single card anyway. It’ll give me more time to research that dream build and later class elections as well as afford me the opportunity to bypass some crazy or alarming grind wall in case they screw something up again down the road (Imagine the pain if there is a grind wall from, say, 480-540 lol No thanks!)

  4. Meh, gaming pc from like 5-8 years ago lol Didn’t have any troubles with the game or fps except for cluttered world bosses or intentional player spam (like at the closing of the cbt in town). Even with the majority of the settings turned off I didn’t notice much difference between Low or High which is probably in-line with fuccboi’s feedback on poor optimization.

  5. In agreement with fuccboi again. I’d love that it were ready for an OBT, hell, I’d drop everything and get started immediately. But I’d much rather prefer they address everything possible before-hand so the OBT can be smooth sailings. I’m one of those gamers who has been through OBT’s that wipe and those that don’t and in a game like this I’d much prefer to carry over all the time invested in my character. In a CBT, sure, wipe away, but if they can fix the core gameplay problems as well as prevent game-breaking exploits then I wouldn’t see any reason to wipe the OBT. Right now though? I’d venture to say we’re behind in terms of where we should be for a solid release.

  6. See 1

  7. In the International version we have seen what appears to be a rather slow development team with fixes coming much later than expected. However this may be due to their likely focuses of the iCBT as we’re already working with the Korean hand-me-downs in terms of builds. It has yet to be seen how much of our feedback will be taken into consideration. The more recently appointed forum GM’s though have been a blessing and have done an amazing job. They listen, and, even if there isn’t anything immediate they can do about something, they’ve done a good job at letting you know that it has been heard at least. Couldn’t ask for more in that sense.

  8. I’ve typed enough and can’t find it in me to continue for now, please forgive me lol suffice to say the game is amazing and I’ll be playing it as much as I possibly can, even if it were released as-is tomorrow. However there is still much to be done and even more that needs to be addressed even if development feels it is “fine” where it is.
