Is there anything I can do against the Froster Lord freeze?
I enjoy playing as plague doctor but it would be quite tedious to test this by myself. Dispellers do not work.
Does bloodletting or beak mask work?
No, IMC thinks that the best way to make difficult content is perma CC that even the classes of whom serve the purpose of countering CC can’t do anything to make it any easier.
It won’t work vs the frost orbs, it won’t work vs the summons, it won’t work vs even the wave IIRC.
You can jump to avoid the wave but otherwise the only answer is DPS. IMC makes all content about DPS and SP regen, this is the only way to be more effective.
You have to kill the extremely tanky and frequently summoned Frost Tree in order to stop the Orbs.
You have to kill the 5 frequently summoned and debuff immune crystals in order to prevent Froster Lord clones.
In Asio Raid you have to kill all the flying enemies that have 5 mill hp in less than 1 min per wave.
■■■■ all the PDs and their CC immunity and DoTs. None of it works.
■■■■ Druids and their reliance on an enemies grounded status and again debuffs.
This game is about doing a lot of big numbers, pick a strong Wizard/Archer that has a lot of high SFR’s and Enhance them, then focus your build around maximizing your SP regen, HP and most importantly your weapon. +16 minimum, but really +30 or higher if you’re not trolling.
Ehh ■■■■. But thanks for the info.
The most annoying part as PD with Froster Lord is that the tree and crystal can’t be debuffed which means I am mostly completely useless. It’s sad that on the one hand I think bloodletting is a cool skill which fits the PD theme but it’s completely useless in PVE. =.=
Dont need to kill them.
If only some classes like Clerics had skills to make people take no dmg from that or increase HP so the dmg is insignificant.
Gear being ‘important’ for some content is fine too.
Just change to Exorcist and DPS him down with doubled damage on Rubric and Katadikazo since he’s a demon.
Sadly Exorcist is probably the only option for endgame content unless you have reaaaaaaally good equipment and lots of attribute points to build a Zealot/Inquisitor.
This will all change with Re:build, the question is if Re:build will come before or after the event is over…
i have never once had a trouble fighting Froster or any other raid.
i don’t understand whats the fuss about.
5 man in any raid is enough to beat it pretty easily.
I like to solo stuff, not having to interact with others in a positive way is good.
However that said it’s not really that anyone has an issue with fighting it as 5, just that PDs shouldn’t be so useless. If you make a class designed to do DoTs and prevent others debuffs from working. It should do that, being unable to do DoTs AS WELL AS being unable to prevent them just ruins the entire class. PD does 1 thing in FFL and that’s heal factor, which works on only 1 person.
You can dodge his freeze by jumping over his ice rings he shoots out, which have a cast time.
Not dodging a mechanic and getting a debuff/penalized for it is standard in any MMORPG. There have to be some things in game you can’t just ignore/become immune to, even though there’s so little as is.
If you want lore reasons:
The Froster Lord is a reagent for a world destroyed by Giltine that has frozen over.
One legend says that Froster Lord used the power of Giltine to freeze over the world of the dragons a long time ago. Such strong magic can only be undone if Giltine herself allows her powers to be used again.
According to legends, the most powerful dragons are still alive in the dragon world. As long as their realm is dominated by the Froster Lord, however, the dragons will remain trapped there, unable to escape.
Froster Lord is a very powerful demon. His magic is strong enough to freeze over an entire world. Thusly, he is probably the strongest monster in the game that can use ice magic (and may ever exist in the game).
I do not find it surprising that a little helmet or bloodletting does not stop him from freezing you.
I know but I don’t like to play Exorcist. I either get the content done with PD or I do something else.
To be honest my Exo build dealt less dps than my doc. Given the last raid as Exo I would have been completely useless because of constant freeze and death. At least Healing Factor could prevent the last problem.
Thanks for the lore, noted.
The bubbles were more annoying than the waves. The party had huge problems with the tree and the pillars and it just felt sad that I stood there as PD, couldn’t help them and neither could do something against the structures.
Yes but you know sometimes, one small mistakes and you’re iced forever
You’re right about dodging the wave being an important mechanic and all, but getting freezed while already freezed shouldn’t happen. Yesterday i got myself in an icecube for more than 25 seconds straight …
There’s still stuff that could be improved about this fight
afaik you can still resist being frozen by blocking some attacks and/or having high amounts of SPR (300+), as I’m only frozen 3-4 times for about 3-6 seconds each per raid on average.
Last run yesterday I was only frozen twice(and I’m not actively jumping /avoiding attacks/patterns/mechanics).
The skill that you need to jump, ice wave, is two concentric rings so you need a wide jump or to jump twice.
The other important mechanic is to destroy the ice tree in the middle immediately. That will prevent the spawning of ice berries. Save cooldowns if you must. I am afraid that most players in this game aren’t the sort that would save cooldowns and would just go ahead with their rotation and try to get top DPS at the expense of the run.
Be wary of the advice of people that regularly run this dungeon with an excess of DPS because it’s pretty easy to ignore the mechanics if you just destroy everything instantly.
Raid Froster Lord is sadly the best boss that IMC have come up with. Everything is avoidable or able to be mitigated with quick response and good DPS. You dont need a carry to consistently deal with this boss.
As @kaizaxl said, destroying the ice tree should always be priority #1. Even if the 6 pillars are up, dealing with the ice tree is still top on the list. The spheres it spawns that bombard the group deal high damage and can freeze lock you.
A neat trick to cheese the 6 pillars mechanic is to intentionally leave 1 pillar up so the reflection spawns, and then off tank it away from the boss. If there are reflections up, then Froster Lord won’t respawn the pillars until they all die, thus negating that mechanic completely at the cost of an off tank.
Yeah, do more DPS.
More DPS fixes everything.
When you tell people to go farm Marc Card, but they never do it.
…Wrong game
Tanking his clones seems like a good idea. Thanks for the info.
Well yeah, the raid really isn’t that hard for sure, what i’m talking about is that sometimes, one simple mistake can mean an eternity in ice, and that’s not fun
In fact, the clones are more dangerous than the Froster Lord himself. They have the buggy grappling attack that completely disable a character, making it run on the spot. If you’re caught, open your chat text, type anything and close it, it’s the only way I’ve found to regain control upon my character when this happens. The problem has been fixed for Mutts in Barynwell, but not for the FL’s clones.
That’s actually good to know. The last time I had this I relogged.
This game breaking bug is 3 years old. IMC never ceases to amaze.
